That's very interesting...I'm amazed that these laser engravers are not using 2D galvanometers!

I received all of the mounting bases back from laser marking tonight and I am very pleased with the results. I hope you guys are as happy with them as I am.

Thanks Skeeball. We are getting closer, but I'm still waiting on the extrusion to be shipped. They made the first run on it early last week, but needed to make some adjustments to the die tooling to get it within specification. As I understand it, they should be running it again today if they didn't already do it last Friday. I've got an email out to them for a status update and I will let you guys know when I know more.

I visited the machine shop yesterday afternoon and took a look at the extrusion. I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. Due to their backlog of work, it doesn't appear that they'll be able to get started on the machining until the end of next week though. Once it is done, the parts will be tumbled and anodized which looks like it will take another week or two after machining. Right now I'm thinking that by the time we are able to assemble, package, and ship it will be somewhere around the middle to the end of February. I have decided that once we have all of the manufacturing done, the $69 price will no longer be available so if you are planning on ordering, make sure you get it done before we start to ship them.

Here's a picture I took of the extrusion yesterday.

Any plans to make a small version for flash lights?

You betcha! The design is already done and I have 3D printed a prototype that I've been beating around for a couple of months now. I just need to get through the process of getting all of these made so that I can find the time to start this process all over again. I'm not going to reveal it for a while though.

I wanted to give you guys an update and let you know that the machine shop is working on machining the clamps. I had planned on visiting the shop on Friday to shoot some video of the process, but I ended up getting called out of town for work. They are going to ship the first two complete parts to me so that I can assemble and test a complete mount before they machine the spring pockets in the rest of the parts. I want to make sure that they are just right, otherwise, the mounts won't be able to hold the extinguisher as tightly as it could have. Even though I'm out of town, we are still on track to possibly ship before the end of the month. That's my goal anyway. The only wildcard is going to be how much of a backlog the anodizers have when we drop off the clamp halves.

As before, just a friendly reminder that the $69 price will only be available until I start shipping the completed units.

Thanks again to everyone for their patience. I know it's been a long wait, and I'm sure you are all just as anxious as I am to get your hands on one.

I visited the machine shop this morning.

I validated the first set of clamp halves at the machine shop this morning and they did a great job with running the first parts. They are going to finish running them today and tomorrow. I should be able to pick them up in the afternoon. I expect that the anodizing will take 1 to 1-1/2 weeks so we should be shipping around the end of this month to the first week of March.

All of the clamp halves are at the anodizer and are supposed to be ready for pickup by Friday afternoon. We should have them all assembled and ready to ship by Monday morning.

This will be the last friendly reminder that the $69 price will be increasing once I start shipping on Monday morning.
