New and/or takeoff sweet headlight idea stuff! - For Sale

New and/or takeoff sweet headlight idea stuff! - For Sale

Yet another of the many ‘good ideas’ I’ve had over the years for my Defenders, and never got around to actually doing it. Yes, this is strange, but some of you are thinking right now “that might be cool”, admit it.

In addition to Defenders, I also tweak with sportscars and motorcycles like many of you.

Back when one of the threads about LED vs HID vs Halogen headlights was active, I came up with this idea and followed through collecting stuff for it. Instead of using a standard 7” Hella, etc. light for H4 bulbs, HID bulbs, Trucklites, etc., I decided I might try something unique that also works well as a headlight. As can be noted in a few of the photos, these are light assemblies from Harley touring bikes, and look like a cross between regular 7” round bulbs used on old Porsches, VWs, our Ds, etc. and the Disco II/Range Rover split lamp assemblies. HD uses these with both halogen bulbs and HID bulbs and sells them for big bucks. After experimenting with one on my bike, I found the halogen ones to be ideal and less-likely to dazzle or blind oncoming traffic. I have a similar single one of these on my FLSTF, as shown in the last photos.

The two lamp assemblies are new dealer take-offs, removed for customers who wanted even higher-dollar accessory lights when they bought their bikes. They’re lights assemblies that are intended to use separate H9 and H11 halogen bulbs for low and high beams. They look pretty cool and work well. They just have a small HD bar & shield in then glass.

They have standard bulb to split H9-H11 adapter harnesses and have bulbs installed, although I also bought a complete new set of bulbs after seeing one of the bulb bases cracked in shipping. As such, there are effectively two complete sets of bubs here for these lamps.

This also includes two sets of chrome headlight retainer rings and hardware I had in my stash (one is shown mounted on a lamp assembly), and as these lamp assemblies are slightly deeper than the ‘bowl-style’ headlight holders, I also bought a set of the later ‘open-back’ corrosion-resistant bowls to fit these. (One of my NAS trucks had the closed bowls and the other had the newer open bowls.) The newer-style bowls include black headlight retainer rings. One is shown and the other is still in its box.

Basically, there is more stuff here than you need to make these work. Who’s game? I just had the shock of figuring out that this is something like $500 worth of headlight parts. Before I break it up and sell it on Ebay for its intended motorcycle purpose, I thought I’d see if one of you would like to take up the mantle.

$250 OBO shipped for all of it! (Via Paypal, but to be sent as a “gift” so I don’t get scalped with their fees.)

Part of the expensive collection of random Rover–associated stuff I need to shed before the movers show up and I transfer overseas.

Thanks for your interest!

Just for clarification if anyone's unclear, this sale is for the two (2) lamp assemblies you'd need to make your D (or Beetle or old 911 or Jeep or Series or.....anything using a standard 7" old-school round headlamp) unique, plus all the mounting rings, buckets, etc. and a bunch of extra bulbs for your Defender.

The photo of the HD is just to show what they look like installed as originally envisioned by HD. That one is staying on the bike.

Thanks!

You know it Carey.

Those are so purty. Not sure they will work.... But looks are better than function of course.

Anything has to be better than the shiet lamps on the RRC now. Of course my RRC may never see the light of day again at this rate anyway.
