International MWM HS2.8L TGV Engine

Asking $7800.
Price is "based" on current 2.8 Tdi.
Currently Located in Central New York
See previous posts from as far Back as 2005 for history of this engine.

Finally rebuilt it to new myself.

Some details of rebuild
-cleaned and resurfaced cylinder head
-v/j all 8 valves/seats
-new head gasket
-all 4 cylinders honed (flex-hone 320sc) - bore and roundness good
- all 4 cylinders new std ring sets
- 3 cylinders new piston heads, but kept original wrist pins
-4 new glow plugs(haven't used yet)

Some break-in details:
- all 4 cylinders coated with QUICK SEAT TOTAL SEAL
-engine assembly lube on all other reassembled part
- engine was pre-oiled prior to initial start
-Just completed 250 mile break-in WOT on steep hills in a heavily loaded Discovery.
-Espar coolant heater used to bring engine up to operating temp before each start so as not to waste cutting life of new rings
-As if it was a Lamborghini, the only foul weather it's seen was some light rain for half a mile.

This engine has only 250 miles on it, that's the whole engine, not just the new parts. Have all receipts.

New to this, but how comparable is the noise level on the 2.8 to the 3.5 v8?

The 3.5 gas is kill-your-ears loud compared to the 2.8 diesel, No? 😇

I don't care what it looks like as long as it runs trouble free!

Others please chime (or barge) in on this, as I have to plead ignorance on the 200tdi. The only thing I "may" know on 200tdi, is it is similar to 300tdi except it's sub models were exclusive to left hand drive and right hand drive.

Putting aside the 200tdi, The hs2.8 is an upgrade of the 300tdi, and not only in displacement and the variable nozzle turbo. As u may be aware 300 Tdi can be made into what M&D is calling the 2.8tdi, and kits are available for anyone with a 300tdi to make this 2.8tdi

I will continue in a bit, but just wanted to get started.

Special Brexit Bump (everyone else is doing it)

$9800 takes the whole truck (1998 Discovery) with engine in it.

The bad: Body and Frame not good from floor down
The excellent:
Rovertracks Heavy duty front axle stuff (CV's, galvnanized and powdercoated steering components)
Kamdiffs Heavy Duty Rear Axle Stuff : Cable operated locker - the one that requires 2" hole drilled in axle housing.
3" Marine Grade (316) Stainless Steel Mandrel Bent Turbo back Exhaust (maybe cut to fit d90??) with EGT bung
Conifer Brake Pipes
much more, pm mel
