Ignition Amplifier Module Relocation Kit (STC1856)

I'm selling a nearly-new ignition amplifier module relocation kit (stc1856). I installed it for only about a week then decided to get a mallory distributor. It works great, guaranteed. $225 shipped in the lower 48 states.

Follow-up Post:

This is a highly-recommended modification. The stock ignition amplifier is mounted to the distributor. Over time, heat and vibration causes it to intermittently fail. Symptoms include misfire, stalling and poor idle control. The kit includes a new amplifier module that is mounted on the wing, next to the coil, and a dummy pass-through module that replaces the one on the distributor.

Jim,

Is this still for sale? Is it a genuine kit or one of the aftermarket ones?

Thanks.

Will they let me go in there and take it off myself or is it one of those we catalogue the parts then jack up the prices just short of brand new places...

Charles I've been to places around Sunland here where they've done that exact thing for small items such as heater control units etc. John thats pretty cheap, mabye I should try and see if they can identify the part. Seeing how its a junkyard in Sunland, I'll probably get a chance to bargain with a thick persian accent

John according to your pics I guess the first one is what I appear to need with the dummy module, does yours come with it? Thanks

Neil, it wouldn't be terribly had to make it up. All STC1856 is is a dummy module, a real module, a 4' piece of harness connecting the two and an L shaped bracket that mounts the Real one next to the coil. I'd think that if you sourced 2 standard modules, gutted one as a pass-through for the loom, made up a harness and bracket, you'd be in fine shape. The whole idea behind it was to move the module off the (hot) coil and up into some cooler air.

I'm sure I could just cut the wires from the optical pick up and do it that way but it'll look real ugly hehe. I think I might just do the mallory thing everyones doing. I think amazon is the cheapest place to buy the distributor (238.00) and the coil that dosen't need the ballast (74.00). Anyone know any cheaper places?
