Hi - we all know that NAS fuel tanks are practically NLA, and the ones that are available are priced in the stratosphere. This one is taking up space in my garage and doing me no good.
Here are the issues: The tank has 3 spots that have been patched. Two of those patches are still doing their job, but one has given up. I attempted to repair with JB Weld, and for whatever reason, it did not do as advertised. You will have to plastic weld, or otherwise repair this tank to make it hold fluid without leaking.
That said, here is your opportunity to get in on a NAS fuel tank for the fraction of the price of a new one. And if you're resourceful and enterprising (like I know many of you are,) this may be the ideal purchase for you. The tank is marked "0100" which might mean something.
As for price, these things rarely come up for sale, and when you need one, you're not always in the position to make a great deal! So keep the following data points in mind:
- New tank, if you can find it, $1200+
- Functional tank from D-90 Forum Friends: $700-$800 depending on friendship
(If I'm way off on price, please don't flame me, the market will surely correct itself.)
- My tank: How about $500 (Plastic welding is cheap, and worst case is you can flip it once you repair it.)
