FS: 2.5td 19J engine and LT77 gearbox

This is out of my 1987 LHD Defender 110. It is my daily driver, and I'm selling it to convert to a 300tdi and R380 gearbox. Odometer reads 160k kilometers, so about 99k miles.
Engine runs and drives great. Starts right up every time and has fantastic power. Will cruise at 70mph no problem, but I rarely take it over 60mph. Transmission shifts perfectly.
The engine leaks and burns a little oil, about 1/2 quart every 400 miles, which I'm told is about average for this motor. I think it's mostly leaking from around the fill cap, and dripping down the engine. It only drips a few drops each time I stop, so more of an annoyance than anything.
Engine also produces a bit more blue/white smoke than normal. I had my mechanic do compression test on it, and was told compression was good in all cylinders, but he did not recall the actual numbers. This is mostly on start up, but randomly at idle and take off it will smoke more than what I'd think is normal. At other times, it seems to be just fine. I've had several mechanics look at the engine, and have not had a definitive answer as to the problem. Rather than throw parts at it, I've decided this is as good enough a reason as any to do the conversion, so you could be getting a very strong low mileage motor with nothing more than a timing issue for a steal, or you could be looking at a ring job.
I have not pulled the motor yet so if you're in the NYC area your welcome to inspect and/or drive it. I will be taking the vehicle to Virginia for the conversion, so if you're located between these two places, I could potentially bring the motor and gear box to you on the way back up, save you some money on shipping.
I'm asking $2500 for the lot

Hah! Yeah, shipping from Alaska would be brutal, but the rig is in New York. Unfortunately I've decided to do a valve job instead of the conversion, I didn't get much interest in selling an old 19j motor, go figure. If I hear of someone with a lt77 for sale I'll let you know.
Regards,
Shane

Appreciate the offer. Not in a desperate need but i will need an entire drivetrain (engine/trans/TC) at some point in the not overly distance future.
