FREEBIE '97 4.0 long block

4.0 long block (block, heads, valve train, cam, lifters, crank, pistons, rods) from a 56,000 mile '97 D90. Runs but has a coolant issue. might just be head gaskets, might be block. The customer decided he didn't want to f-with it and wanted a 4.6 anyway, so he is having us install a new 4.6.
No coolant in the oil.
Maybe a core for re-sleeve? Maybe some heads to play with? Maybe run it 'till it blows... hey, its free.. use it as a coffee table.
We'll strap it to a palate. You arrange your own method and payment for shipping.
Hope it helps somebody out.

Stick a 3.9 cam in it and few other small bits and it is a 3.9

Ron I have all that stuff sitting in the yard! PM me with what you want and I'll box it up and ship it to you!

Want to trade Mike? I have a 3.9 with similar problems in the yard :P

OK,
#1. Its FREE
#2. I'm not going to take it apart for parts. If you want it cool-o. If you just want the crank cool-o. It comes in this neato container called and engine block. Or you can come to the shop with your tools and take what you want and leave the rest in the scrap pile.
#3. Its a long block (Block, heads, valves, rockers, rocker shafts, valve springs, crank, rods, pistons, camshaft, timing chain, timing gears). That is it. No timing cover, no oil pan, no valve covers, no intake, no pulleys, no ancillaries. (am I the only one that ever bought a small block Chevy engine and learned the terms (short block, long block, stripped engine and complete engine?)
#4 Its FREE. Arrange and cost estimate your own shipping. Our zip is 04864.

Sorry to sound like a dick but... its FREE. If you want it, you'll need to do the leg work.
These normally go into our scrap pile and the junk guy hauls them off, but I thought it might help someone out.

Thanks!

Seriously. Yes, I'll trade. You can have the 4.0 and I'll let you keep your 3.9!!!

For those seeking to take advantage of Mikes offer, try www.freightquote.com for shipping...they will quote you several carriers and arrange everything. I have used them in the past and was very satisfied with the service.

How close are you to my pick up on that series 3? I'm guessing it needs an engine, I was thinking the small diesel, but since it's free...

Mike,

How much would you guesstimate it weighs? I'm getting quotes.

Hi guys,

The shop is about 1 hour or so from the donor Series III.

The long block weighs about 300 pounds... I'm guessing.

Hope that helps,
