On another note Doug, by selling my 300tdi disco I have stumbled into the current owner of the 4bd1t powered disco you built who lives here in Kansas City! I'm trying to work something out so I can have a look at it! After reading about it and watching your youtube video it will be cool to see it in person

Your Isuzu engine still has gobs of power. It was fun to drive!

COOL!

I wonder if they ever got he turbo/fueling sorted. The turbo I installed had a HUGE ability to add more power and last time I chatted with the owner (maybe this one or maybe previous to this one?) it had not been touched. It should be brutal if tuned right.

I miss her.... But the RRC is coming along REALLY well and will be a beast.

Interior coming back together. All new sound proofing, extra carpet pad, skater proofing and drainage. And yes that's a 2004 steering, dash and console being installed. Along with 100% new wire harness tied in to the stock column signal stalks key and light switches etc.

Fun project. TDI and trans/lt230 etc all in and just need final plumbing and a few wires.
Hang on pics not cooperating...
Close. Close. But still a ways to go!

So we had one of ours rebuilt for the correct stall speed and used the BMW diesel govenror in the V8 HP22 and the results were spot on. I suspect you'll go through a similar process, only it sounds like your starting point is much closer to perfection than ours was 5 years ago. Keep up the good work! Fully expect to rebuild the head with new valves if it's not damaged, then we'll have to locate a head. Also hoping for no holes in the pistons, but we'll find out sooner than later.
Whether it's 200/300/617/Isuzu somehow I suspect most NAS 90s will one day end up bring converted to diesel power.

I'm sure some series trucks could handle that conversion!

It's never been tuned properly. I don't think any if the owners have really done anything to it at all other than tires etc...From California it went to Colorado to Wyoming and now to Kansas City!

Looking forward to your kit so I can do the same in a 93lwb

I see from the pictures you had not changed the pedal box out...would you be willing to take some photos of what you do to make one for the manual transmission set up? I'm trying to figure out if it's easier to modify the rrc pedal box or the disco pedal box.
Thanks

No word, I plan to visit him tomorrow. He was gone last week..

Pedal box, this one is staying automatic and I was able to rewire the stock '93 power brakes so they will work correctly. I did have to modify it a bunch to fit the newer disco 2 steering column, shaft and such in place.

I will be posting a lot more pics soon. She's on the lift now in my shop and the exhaust is being welded up. CLOSE!

Thanks Doug!

So is your kit going to be for the r380 or zf?

R380.

With possible plans for the ZF too - but manual to start with.

I went Isuzu again on this truck and saved the VW for the next project.

I know this is kind of an old thread but I was wondering if there was ever a finished product? I am thinking about installing a 1.8 or 2.0 liter VW gas motor attached to an R380 into a series 3 and am looking for information on how to mate the two.
