Defender 4.6L Long Block, Rebuilt, Serpentine Drive

I built this engine in 2015 for a D110 project that didn't pan out. The engine came from a 2004 Discovery with a rod knock. It never overheated and was not consuming coolant. This engine is a perfect replacement for the anemic 3.9L with its archaic poly-V front cover. Compatible with any Defender, Range Rover Classic, or Discovery 1 fitted with a distributor ignition 3.5, 3.9, or 4.2.

2004 D2 4.6L
Ground and polished crank
Honed cylinders
New rings
New main and rod bearings
New cam bearings
All new seals
New camshaft
Machined heads with new head gaskets and head bolts
Billet tower rocker shaft assemblies
New thermostat
Serpentine timing cover
New oil pump
New water pump
Edelbrock double roller timing chain
New engine mounts
Powder coated engine mount brackets
Powder coated oil pan (external coating only)
Powder coated water pump pulley
Powder coated power steering pump bracket
Ceramic coated exhaust manifolds with all new gaskets/hardware (not pictured)

To complete conversion, you will need to source a few parts from a 1995 RRC or a Disco 1. 1) AC compressor and lines. The lines can be readily adapted by any competent hydraulics shop. NOTE: This engine can be installed WITHOUT an AC compressor if your truck does not have AC. I can supply you with the proper idler pulley and serpentine belt part numbers. 2) Power steering pump and lines. 3) Oil cooler lines. 4) Tensioner, idler pulley, serpentine belt 5) Alternator
Cooling: The proper fan shroud is NLA. If you can find a used 4.0L D90 fan shroud and fan then you are set. If not you will need to convert to electric fans. I did the same thing on my D90 when I converted to a serpentine belt and it's fairly easy. I can supply the buyer with all the info from when I set mine up. I paid for the shroud to go into CAD and the shop I had fabricate the piece can bust out more (for way less than I paid for the prototype)

$4500 plus shipping (located in Phoenix, AZ)
I have the engine in a crate and ready for shipment.
