D90 steering wheel

Being way too type A, I finally sucked it up and bought a new steering wheel for my NAS D90. As many of you know, a new one with the NAS stock 32-spline is not easy to find these days and thus cost a nausea-inducing price (>$600!). However, it sure does feel nice under my hands and got rid of all my OCD issues with the old one.

That being said, for those of you without all my hang-ups who just want a wheel that turns and looks decent, here is your opportunity. The wheel is in very good shape except at the 12 o'clock position (as pictured) -- in this area the rubber is breaking down presumably from sun exposure before I owned the truck. It is not flaking or breaking off but it is rough instead of smooth and shiny like the rest of the wheel. This part of the rubber also has slight amount of movement in it instead of being fixed and motionless like the rest of the wheel.

Center bumper is NOT included nor is the little circular clip that goes on the back of the wheel. The clip I am speaking of wraps around the outside of the metal ring on the back of the wheel that houses the spline. The clip has two little protruding pieces of metal that hook into the blue plastic piece (? name of this piece) at the top of the steering column around the spline itself.

$100 or best offer + shipping takes it...

Just happened to be at my local LR dealer and asked again, and the parts tech found it available. Last time I checked there a few months back, it was not. Cool thing is the wheel is now wrapped in matte finish vented/perf leather also -- feels nice under the paws! And yes, it IS the standard NAS 32-spline -- popped on with ease...

If your dealer can't find it, call parts dept. at LR Cape Fear at 910-332-3500. They will usually work a small discount with you also if you ask.

Nice find -- yep, there is one used original one on eBay that looks to be in pretty nice shape. Starting bid is $450.00 with zero bids and $500.00 buy it now. Again, the brand new ones with the nice matte leather wrap (about 50% thicker feel to me & looks cool) are just over $600.00. Can post pics if anyone is interested. Basically, same "finish" as the Euro ones that were being sold recently but wouldn't fit any of the NAS D90s due to the spline size issue.

Okay, I am the polar opposite of that "Hoarders" show. In fact, watched like 2 min. of it once, about had a panic attack. Point is, best offer takes the steering wheel or it goes in the trash. Worst case, just pay for shipping.

Not to dump on Heston's thread. You can get the leather wheels off of ebay.uk. Granted they are more than Heston's so his is a good bet to stay on this side of the pond for a used wheel.

Not a dump Chris -- no worries. Be careful on those wheels ebay.uk wheels though. I ordered one which was supposed to fit the NAS and was the wrong spline. Their initial solution to me was, "well, just change out the steering column to a UK version". Umm, no. So, then I had to ship back and was out the shipping costs. So, if you order one just confirm # teeth on spline first.

Again, I am going to give my wheel until next weekend, no bites = dumpster.
