No 1911s. An Beretta 92FS 9mm, a Mossburg 12g and a Bushmaster ACR are all I own. This is not a gun thread.

I do plan to store some stuff (household furniture, tools and the like) but based on previous experience and the length of time I expect, I'm realizing its not the best idea when it comes to car parts and projects. Storing one of my D90s is still a possibility, however.

I stored my one car (an F150) the last time I was in Japan and the Navy even picked up the bill, but that time I transferred from San Diego vice the east coast, and only for a year instead of the 2-3 years it'll probably be this time. Also, being the aforementioned SINGLE Navy pilot probably allows for the expense of all the cool vehicles and projects I've been able to blow my mad money on, but it doesn't allow for the weight and volume of crap that comes with it all. The service can't/won't pay to move or store it all.

The last time I was there in 2000-2001, the R34 GTR (the Fast and Furious meathead holy grail) was introduced and I went and drove one, even considering buying one and rolling the dice on shipping it home and getting it federalized upon my return. (In Japan, it cost the equivalent of a base Corvette did here. Back in the US, it was worth more than twice that amount as I understand it, but was/is an even bigger pitfall than importing a questionable 110 is now.) I've seen a few R32 and R33 cars on the road here and all were military guys who brought them back.

Based on the exponential vehicle property and registration tax structure for Japanese citizens, (along with their desire for the newest and coolest stuff) those that have nice cars normally swap them out after about three years and US military folks not held to the same costs can often buy and drive amazing cars for relatively cheap. I remember meeting a PO2/E-5 that drove a 4yr-old NSX and a few sailors that drove RX-7s, Evolutions, etc. At the time, these cars were all produced for sale there, even if not offerred here still/yet. Those guys were all, however, long-term four-plus year assignments over there, and I'll be there a bit shorter.

Maybe I'll get something cool, maybe I'll really try and find a 97 Japanese-spec NAS clone, maybe I'll buy a beat hand-me-down $300 Civic like I did last time, and maybe I'll just ride my Ducati and the train. (And save up my dough to buy a floatplane upon my return!)

I'm very interested in this set up. I just pick up a 95 RRC, and I'm shopping for all you are looking to liquidate. No idea how easy/hard it would to fit. I'm 88 miles north of you. Will PM you shortly.

Hi, Niall-

I'll be in touch with Jon (sirjond) today, but should he pass on it, you're next in line and I'll let you know. Sound fair?

As I understand it, it should all work in any RRC, Disco I or Defender with 24-spline diffs/axles. The $2k offer was for the two build-up pumpkins/third members, front and rear HD halfshafts/knuckles, compressor, switches, wiring harness and braided hoses and fittings, and I bought hoses long enough that I believe they will work on the RRC's longer wheelbase, but that's TBD by the buyer and depends on compressor mounting location, routing, etc. I intended to mount it under the passenger seat in the D90 toolbox/void space there.

Fitting this stuff isn't hard for someone with the right tools, time and instructions. It'll also give you a chance to do a brake and hub/swivel service you've been putting off!

Not part of that sale but also available to the buyer for an additonal cost is the Tom Woods-built double cardon front driveshaft I also bought a few months ago from Joel (crown14). < http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=41178 >Yet another item I won't get around to using!

Thanks guys.

Figured I'd post this for all the people in line since it looks like this deal is covered. Rears only for $850.

1x RD138 ARB Air Locker (Land Rover)

I Bought this locker for my Land Rover Defender, but sold the Defender before I installed it. I paid $1100.00. It is new, in the box and never been opened.

(I have the compressor also if needed - ARB CKSA12)

** Please check with the application chart to see if it fits your Defender**

Still available, gents! Jon has decided to pass for now. (But it was great talking with you, Jon. Please send me your address so I can ship you all the other stuff you bought.)

With this convoluted vomitous final thread to date, I'm not sure who contacted me first between posting, PMing and emailing, but I think it was Jeff (Jpayne), Sam (SMac) and Niall (REDrum) as at least the first three in some form. (I think it was in that order as well, but I'm not 100%. Just want to be fair and follow the spirit of the D90 Forum.) Certainly someone who can pick them up is a bonus for me for ease of completion, but its still open to everyone if you're good with paying for shipping.

I did also find a couple of other cool items that would go well with the HD axleshafts at the final buyer's option. I have a pair of lightly used GBR HD drive flanges and a new-in-box pair of Terrafirma ones. These are not required to use the axleshafts, but look sweet and are certaibly an upgrade to the stock LR ones. Say an extra $175 on top of the earlier mentioned deal to add all four of those?

Also to clarify, these are built-up differentials/third members. I'm not positive, but I'm 99.9% sure that the CL post that Josh added is for just the rear locker assembly, not for a complete differential.

Let the freak-out begin/resume!

I'm out. It was kind of a pipe dream but I wanted to get in line in case I could rationalize it. Hell of a deal but not something I really need.

Thanks

Thanks for the PMs and emails, Sam and Niall. Both are responded to.

I'll get a shipping quote for you here Sam, and should that be prohibitive for Sam, I'll let you know, Niall, so you can drive down and grab it all.

Talk with you guys soon.
