Barely Used R380 44L Stumpy

Purchased directly from Ashcroft Transmissions: http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co...sing-r380.html . Installed in a D90 & driven for maybe 100 miles behind a 2.25 petrol. Compatible with anything that would accept an LT77 behind it.

Don't have any pictures presently, but I can get them if someone really wants them.

Asking $2000 or best offer.

(Updated to add 44L model info.)

For those interested in procuring one of their own from Ashcroft, this is about how the costs break down:

~$1622 for the transmission (995 British pounds, converted as of this post)
~$326 for shipping (200 British pounds)
~$300 for breakbulk fee, container station fee, entry bond, entry fee, security fee, and duties.

... And about 50 emails, phone calls, and whatnot else with DHL to make this all work out.

The transmission appears to be a 44L model.

Still available. Turns out Daniel needed a normal R380.

Someone asked me this question in PM, and I honestly do not know the answer - can one remove the shorty bellhousing and install the bellhousing off a '94 D90 without any problems? I am guessing "yes", but it is probably better to be sure...

there is more to it then that, the shafts are different as well. So the short easy answer is no, it will be cheaper for him to get the right trans for his set up.

gear ratio's are different as well. The short r380 is a rare trans and sell for a premium. Surprised this is still available.

There has been one serious offer, but it was a bit below what I was hoping. That is it, though .

Actually, Ashcroft makes these as new (they have had their own bellhousing cast), so they have the same gearing as a normal R380 or you can get them with the older LT77 gearing if you want. This specific one (44L) has the same gearing as all other diesel R380s.

At $2000 (plus shipping?) it is not being offered at any savings over buying direct. If it includes shipping, it is a savings. Lucky8 sells for $2029 plus shipping.

I'm willing to cover shipping.

I'm also willing to entertain other offers, as the original post indicates.

No. V8 and Diesel boxes have different ratios. You also have the option to get the early LT77 diesel ratios in the stumpy box, which is different again.

All listed here: http://www.red90.ca/rovers/gears.html#r380

If you order direct from Ashcroft, you can get whatever ratios you want from the possible selections. For instance, you can have the lower diesel first gear and the higher V8 5th gear.
