update - i washed it last night to make it look pretty for the "next owner" - here is the new description:

* 1 HUGE rip in the front panel
* a tear / rip in each side of where the B pillar is.
* [to be safe] a coupe of wear marks where the material is getting thin
* the windows are FANTASTIC.

joe is passing.
amit??

i dont want to send this to someone and they say: hey there is a rip in it. this top is awful. [ that should get me off the hook ] =)

This sounds like a perfect candidate for someone to make a HUGE moon/sunroof for the front section, and then just fully reinforce the rest of the top somehow. There, that should get someone interested.

Keith, you are doing Badgers a disservice saying they become brittle and rip apart at 4 years. Mine was purchased by the PO on 8/27/05 for $2086 and it still looks good as new today. Perhaps it is the acid ran or the salt air up there.

its not a disservice - its the truth. i love chris. he knows that.
the guy bought it, had ECR install it then used the truck on nantucket until i purchased it. it was the salt air and HOT sun beating on it that wore it thin.

i am having my truck overhauled by someone right now and i ordered a new badger II - thats how confident i am in badgers product.

the HUGE tear is still the same tear in the front / top part - that has not grown. =)
the two smaller rips have evolved with washing / playing with it.

i will send photos - later if i can.

you sent me a note at 11:25 - i responded at 11:26. =)

its $400 + actual shipping costs.

i am not going to try and guess.
i am not going to pack it, bring it there and have them give me an idea.

i will box it, ship it and you can pay the 400 + whatever it costs me - or RURR it. then you can PP as a gift.

That is a punishing environment for most anything.
I believe Chris has used Haartz Twillfast and/or Sonneland for the material based on availability over the years. Inspecting Badger tops from different eras shows subtle differences in materials used. Good information here.
