acceptable play in drive shaft ?

What is an acceptable amount of rational play in the Defender front drive shafts slip joint splines ? I was replacing the U joints on an '85 110 and noticed what I felt was far too much play in the slip splines . Anyone carry these reasonably priced or is it best to have a local drive shaft shop make a new one?

I had a local driveline shop rebuild my shafts. The front slip joint had ~1/8" deflection!
