This is the crossmember and transmission brackets off my 97.

That cross member looks like a disco crossmember?

And Brian is right The crossmember looks very similar but this one is not square on the end like the disco one.

Actually the defender ones are square and discos have the pattern in this picture

My D1's crossmember had to be reworked to fit a defender chassis properly

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

This mount will not fit in a defender bc of the top left corner. It will not clear the chassis to body mount. The corner has to be trimmed for it to fit... And this crossmember will not fit a defender either bc of the bolt pattern. Both can be modified to make fit but are not stock defender brackets... Sorry, I'll post the correct brackets tomorrow that came out of a 97 that I am currently working on.
