The compressor is not part of a 97 AC system. All 97 D90s have the compressor, even if they did not have AC. A 97 compressor will not do you any good anyway as it will not bolt up to a 94 or 95 because it is Serp belt not V-belt so you don't want it (it is also substantially the same as on a GEMS disco I). In order to retrofit to a 97 system to a 94-95 D90 you need a compressor off one of those vehicles or use one off of a pre-95 Range rover classic and use R134.

"the Compressor Is Not Part Of The A/c Sytem On A 97 Defender" Are You Smoking Dope? I Know 97 Defenders Did Come With Compressors. That Is Completely Beside The Point.

I Paid A Very Good Price For This System And I Expect A Complete System. If Mark Was Not Planning On Including The Compressor,he Should Have Mentioned It. I Would Not Have Offered Such A Generous Amount.

So,mark, please Send Me The Compressor Or Let's Work Out A Partial Refund.

Well, I see your point, the compressor is necessary, but it is not part of the system as sold or as can be removed. You clearly did not understand this when you bought it. I am not saying it is your fault or Mark's he did not seem to know either. If you had a 97 it would not matter either way as you would already have it.

I say this because if you ordered a "97 D90 air conditioning system" [i might have the wording wrong but it is the only one in the accessories catalog] directly from land rover it did not include the compressor. I know, I used to sell them. You did not get it because 97s all had the compressor already whether they came with AC or not. If you had got the right system for your truck you were have known that too.

Look I have no dog in this fight so I am going to leave it alone now. If you want to make the AC work, call Will Tillary and he will ship you a compressor out of a RRC with brackets etc for not much money, if you want a compressor that won't fit your truck, and is basically the same as the one off of any GEMS disco you can find for $50-100, keep telling me I am on dope. I just don't see why you are complaining so much about a part that costs $100 tops on what had to be a 1500-2000+ system.

BTW Mark can't send you the compressor because there is no way to set up the serp belt without the compressor. At least not anyway I know of.

Ron is right on - 97 A/C units do not include compressors if you buy them separately and 97 compressors arent intended to be separated from their motors. This looks like an easy misunderstanding. Hopefully you guys can work out a reasonable agreement.

I have heard the belt can be routed away from the compressor. Search this forum.

I will donate a compressor mount to help dissolve this dispute. And I can probably help you find a part number on a new compresor you can source locally. But you will still have to figure out the hoses n' such.
