4.6 GEMS and RRC upper intake manifolds - FOR SALE

I have two intake manifolds available that I won't be using. Perhaps one of you guys can. They come as shown in the photos with some associated installed components (throttle bodies, linkages, etc).

- The first is from a '98 4.6 GEMS P38 that came with my soon to (finally) be swapped in motor. The previous owner painted it black over the stock black/gray coating. Strip it, repaint it, or use it as is. All mounting surfaces, sensor mounts, etc are free of paint.

- The second one is from a '91 Range Rover. I bought it from an Ebay seller back when I first started putting together my swap plan, and its sat in a box since.

$60 each shipped! (As they're heavy and I expect shipping to be a bit pricey.)

Thanks for your interest.

Not sure if you know the answer to this or not, but is the throttle body on a 4.6 intake any different from the 4.0?

Considering the 4.6 internals up grade to my 97D1, not sure if i need that plenum though.

My 4.6 had my old 4.0 plenum on it (98D1). Don't think it matters, other than for when you look under the hood to feel cooler about it being correct.

Meeh, didnt know if the throttle body was any larger due to the extra .6L and super tire smoking power....

I honestly don't know, but I don't believe they're different from one another other than the aforementioned 4.6 vs 4.0 casting cool factor. I didn't really want to disassemble my 97's (4.0) engine bay to verify.

Perhaps one of the parts gurus from whom we all scrounge stuff from can chime in?

The install of my 4.6 was done by Will Tillery; in discussing all of it I'm fairly certain all of that on the GEMS is the same. It did make some damn good power with the cam in it but otherwise standard 4.0 GEMS stuff (ECU, ancillaries, etc). I came away with the notion that the 4.6 is about the size the D1 should have had in it all along....one day I'll be back to that, with a 5 speed to make it even more fun.

I believe (but know nothing about such things since I shy away from the later P38's and the DIIs) there is a different in the Bosch 4.6's in elements such as the TB.

Murph, I'm in for the 4.6 plenum cover, but it's for a currently shelved project to swap the 4.2 out of the LeWBer, so absolutely no hurry. Must complete 2A project first....... Maybe if you remember to throw it in your truck next time you swing thru the area? or you can ship it. Don't care.

Hi, Bill-

Sounds good. I probably won't be headed up to the DC/NORVA area again before the move in about a month, and the closet I'll get will probably be next Sunday when I head up through Delaware headed to RI for a few days. It'll probably just be easier to ship it to you unless you have some reason to be in DE this weekend!

Let me know if you need the Paypal and email info again. (Thought maybe you still had it from the transmission sale.)

Thanks,
Murph

No the throttle bodies are the same on the 4.0 and 4.6 Bosch motors too
