4.2 short block w 60K $350

Perfect for your 95/96 Defender at a fraction of the cost of a 4.6. Plus, much more compatible.

Short block with front cover (for use with distributor) w/ water pump, cam, crank/rods/pistons, oil pan/pump and flywheel all intact for $350. This only has 60,000 miles. It was pulled because a severely blown head gasket but no water in the oil. Customer replaced this motor with a complete rebuild.
Add $200 for rebuilt heads/valves (not installed).
I would recommend a complete tear down and rebuild or use for parts.

It had a bad blown head gasket at 3 & 5. Plus, I'm not the one who drove it to that point. So, the only thing I can guarantee is it had 60,000 miles and no oil in the motor.
