300TDi with pump and accesorries $1500

Located in Tampa, FL. can crate/pallet and ship. Running good condition Not rebuilt just a good running engine. Bought it for my 78 Santana, which turns out has a 6 cyl diesel that shows no sign of fatigue. So if anyone is interested please call me 305-525-5636 if you prefer to reply here I should get a notification. In any case, I have pictures but cant put them on here, so please ask.

Also have a 2002 rolling chassis complete with TD5 and drive train $15,000

What's the difference physically and performance wise? What's the preference, I assume the Defender 300Tdi is better than the Disco 300tdi?

That is really cheap! Even the TD5 rolling chassis seems to be decently priced if everything is in good order. Good luck!

Same motor, but the location of the turbo is different. The Disco Tdi won't drop in to a LHD without switching out the exhaust manifold to a Defender version - which can be pricey.

what you said, turbo location is the primary difference, along with intakes and manifolds. The 300s had the egr stuff on and a different pump between the disco and defender.

Got it. So will a Disco 300tdi drop in to a LHD Defender without mods?

yes just the motor mounts, and the obvious transmission issues pending what you have, and just a tad more work to make the pump work, and be sure the injection pump is good, they are pricey.

Aaron,

Quick question what about on a RHD Defender? Any other issues I should look for? Looking forward to getting this in the truck!

Thanks,

Aaron

300TDI vs 200TDI vs Defender vs Disco

Hope sharing the following helps...

The 200TDI Defender engine is very different from the 200TDI disco engine.
To name a few: both manifolds, water pump, front cover, and various other differences between the 2.

The 300TDI Defender and Disco engines are very close and in most cases interchangeable.
The EGR is different (as noted above) on the 300TDI Defender vs Disco, but easily overcome during a swap.
The same is true of the non-ecu IPs.
The Disco IP has a separate linkage that is suppose to be for additional performance and also has a TPS which is generally not used in a conversion type install. The ECU Disco IP can be swapped out for a Defender or Disco (non-ECU IP) and the engine will run fine.

When installing a Disco 200TDI into a LHD 90 or 110, fitting the 300TDI exhaust manifold eliminates any steering shaft clearance issues, but requires some adapting and minor machine work to fit the 300TDI Dipstick to the 200TDI engine.

Ended up fixing a 300TDI engine that had head and IP issues.
Installed an Amadeo Marti Carbonell (AMC) head with a disco-non-ecu IP with new injectors and it was very quick after the swapping. After inquiring about the differences in the IP was told that the disco pump had an additional fuel enrichment linkage that added fuel and a little more boost to help the Disco 300TDIs cope with the ZF auto and the 1.22 gearing. This setup supposedly helped a Defender's performance. Am just so busy that I have never taken the time to adjust the boost and fuel on a TDI IP and am just learning to adjust the Mercedes OM617 IPs.
