300tdi engine/R380box is there any demand?

I have a tie in with a breaker here in the UK. He can offer this combo for either Defender or Discovery 1 as either takout units or recon units.

He wants me to find out the demmand so we can bring in a containerload to the east coast to save on shipping costs.

What's the price range? That will help.

Plenty of demand. Depending on price, I can always use a spare motor and tranny.

I would buy a junkyard pull if I was short on cash and desperate to get back on the road. If I am doing a conversion or engine swap I prefer that the engine be checked over by a professional, be clean, be ready to drop in with new gaskets and seals and timing consumables. That would probably suck up a lot of profit margin if you had to "certify" each engine and trans. Thats just me. Im sure there are plenty who'd buy an RTO. Just too much trouble if you ask me. Trans from Ashcroft recon is reasonably priced, so I probably would not put in a take out just to have an R380 or whatever.

If it were a complete front end with all the bits and pieces ... for a LHD setup then I would be interested. Would be nice to see a video showing the particular motor running ...

This should cost no more that 2500 shipped to my door. I need the last 1000 to get Dan to put it in.

Dan said he could source, rebuild and install for 2500 so your gonna need it for less than 1500....or even cheaper cuz the guts for the rebuild are gonna be at least 500, just hope you don't need the IP rebuilt too cuz that alone is about 1000....
