Julian - not your FS thread, there was another truck that was a project (parts/pieces) that he apparently had issue with.

The only problem is with us people who own two Rovers... 2 engines or just Tdi the Defender, hmmm.

I have a RRC too so I assume the ZF is the same between Tdi and V8. Bellhousing and shaft will need replacing like the stick version right?

Wrong. There are other differences. Yes, the V8 trans *can* be made to work. Others on this board have more experience with this. But, i believe it is best to get an engine from an auto truck and get the proper gearbox etc. That way all the correct pieces will be there so that everything fits and works together properly. Though, to go into your 90 you will still need to source an auto center console.

Correct. I was thinking Tdi/auto from a DI/RRC into my RRC and a Tdi/manual for the Defender. Maybe I will just get one for the Defender.

What running gag? I thought if you want to go tdi you either call ECR, Pendy, or Chapman. Those are the big names in installing engines correctly and cheaply. Well I mean ECR and Pendy can't compete with Dan on price. Last I heard he was going to pay me to install the engine in the truck. He is that good.

Don't forget Keith from Roving tracks, he offers the conversions too.

Yes, do that. Free yourself from AL V8 tyranny
