300 Tdi

I have a Disco 300 Tdi engine I bought a few years back and have not had the time to do the swap. Started getting the time and found out if I did the swap I could no longer register my truck in Clark County NV.

I am in Las Vegas, the engine is in Cleveland, Ohio. It has been sitting for a few years and I am not 100% on the mileage. Previous owner said it had about 119,000 on it. There is a dent in the oil pan.

Looking to get around $3,000 for it. Willing to hear offers as well.

I also have a 1983 110 that it was supposed to go into with a 4 cylinder petrol engine. Let me know if you are interested in that as well.

Have you approached DMV about installing it in the '83 110? I'd think that would not be a problem. Or build & register it in another state and then bring it to NV.

The DMV has been no help at all. They usually tell me to look up the laws pertaining to it, and it basically says in Clark County you must be able to prove that the engine you are installing has less emissions than the one being taken out. Not sure how to prove it. Some people at the DMV try to be helpful, but most are not. Some are appalled that I have a RHD vehicle in the first place.

I'll give you a $750.00 for it...I would think it needs a little work (judging from the picture, like others have said)

Jon,
Not interested in the engine but I live in Silverado Ranch. If you have any other parts for sale let me know. I'm restoring an 85 110 csw. Not many of us Defender folks here in Las Vegas. Ironically I grew up in Cleveland, OH, where your engine is though. Small world.

Not sure how the motor sitting on its side makes it worth a quarter of its asking price.

P.M. sent

Shipping on it's side could have damaged the turbo and manifolds...the way it appears to have been strapped to the pallet just increases the risk of buying a used engine. It may be a non-issue, but the op would need to address the issue.

Like Paul said, if the turbo and manifolds need to be replaced, your lookin' at anywhere from 900 to 2200, depending on what you do, add the rebuild costs of about 500 for gaskets, seals and a head rebuild, especially if it was stored that way...easy math...

your just inheriting a potential headache

I was never good at math, but the fact the motor is alloy and steel and the shipping surface is wood, Im going with the motor is going to be fine.

But there is a chance that it has some internal problem that none of use can see.

Cheers Ed

The motor has been sitting like that for a few years. Why was it shipped like that you ask, I don't know, the shipper shipped it like that. I can't tell you if the manifold and turbo are damaged, I saw the engine once and quickly looked it over. The shipper was supposed to get it out here to Vegas, but customs held it up. Since I work overseas I had it shipped to my Uncles welding shop, so it has been inside at least.

$750, no.

Also, in case you guys can't tell, I'm not on here everyday but I will try to answer what questions I can when I am on.
