What comes with the 300Tdi? Ancillaries? ..and did you have any trouble fitting the Disco 200Tdi to the LHD NAS D90? I've heard from folks in the UK that putting the Disco motor into a LHD can be problematic.

Thanks,

Keith

i will have to check the motor over on tues when I am at the barn for a list, but i think altenator, ps pump, starter etc. I will post pics wed or so with a list

A little steering shaft fabrication & fender well triming was required, however very happy i did it

How about you put a blanket over it to keep it warm for the winter and offer it for sale again in 6 months

What does it take to mount one of these things? I've got a 200TDI chassis that I'm building up... Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't just mount one of these to any tranny, right? I seem to remember something about the input shaft being too long, or the bell housing too short.. I may be interested if I could get it to mount to my R380.

blanket, maybee

Jim I would really like to see it do in a galv frame with the ambulance body and drivetrain I am selling :o)

Follow-up Post:

Ethan, I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, however I supplied all of the parts to my mechanic when putting the 200 in my truck and we had to move motor mounts, change the bell housing and input shaft and custom fab a pilot bushing. so still running my v8 r380 with the tdi but I did put Jeromys 3rds in with 4.10s and lockers. I thimk the truck is faster to sixty now :O) after that plumbing and now ip tuning at Ovverland engineering.
I will look as i have a 200 and 300 but I believe the mounts are completely different. Will have pics tomorrow as well as a list of ancillaries

Thanks a lot. I'm interested in seeing what you learn. Where did you source the bellhousing from? What kind of work did you do for the input shaft? I'm thinking of scrapping my MB300TD conversion for this, if it seems more doable...

@ Ethan - To do this right you need a long-shaft r380 and the appropriate length bell housing. The motor mounts for the 200 and 300 are different (200 shares mounts with the old 2.5 motors). I've seen a short-shaft trans used with a 300, but you need a particular bellhousing (v8?) and then either your engine is way back in the chassis requiring "git-r-dun" engineering to plumb and fit (as recently seen on an exhorbitantly priced red 110 on ebay) or you have a trans and tranfer case mounted too far forward resulting in screwy shifter locaiton and custom driveshafts.

@ Stephen - I'm not really understanding your sentence - are you moving this to get an ambulance body project rolling, or are you trying to sell a galv chassis as well?

Hi Jim, we scraped the v8 bell housing and changed the input shaft, never moved the tranny. Duncan sent me the appropriate parts from the uk.

I am selling the ambulance period. I know Matt Browne has a couple of suitable galvy frames in his yard , so if someone was looking to source a frame & do a build up I have the truck & motor to start, and know where there is a frame close by.Sorry for the confusion
Cheers

I need a bellhousing to mate a 300Tdi to an L-suffix diesel R380.

Wow JimC, Thanks for the helpful info.. I haven't investigated my r380 that I picked up recently. Any suggestions where I might find the input shaft and "long" bell housing? Again, I haven't consulted part numbers (do you have any for the correct components?), but I'm assuming that my R380 is just a "run of the mill" NAS- spec one.
Got any good sources for this stuff? I'd imagine that going to the "source" (i.e. the UK) is probably the best way to go... My hybrid-series D90 is quickly losing it's "seiries-ness", though I guess that's ok.

Diesel_Jim, Do you have any sources for this stuff?

You're going to be in Easthampton next week??!! Hmmmm..., that changes everything. Why are you getting rid of this again? You like your 200tdi more?

Talking

I had it shipped with the three rovers that I containered in last week. I was thinking of putting it in the ambulance 110 I am selling but want to go 2.5 NA with that truck if I swap the gas motor. Pine Island lake either next week or the week after= free delivery.
Easier motor to put in an lhd truck than a 200 because of the steering shaft/ turbo location.

What type of series Hybrid are you building?

That looks like an EDC motor (because of the big wiring harness) if so, do you have the computer? I understand the fuel pumps are different between the EDC and non-EDC versions.

have an jp from another mechanical motor or I can get the ECU if plug & Play is desired. Matt Browne said the pump was mechanical anyway (last I was at his shop) and you could rewire itto run mechanical. (i am not a mechanic so I defer to the greater knowledge)
