Haha reading this makes me laugh, I have been in Mexico now for two months been all over and not once have I felt unsafe. In fact it has been opposite of what everybody has told me from ill be kidnapped and ransomed for money yada yada. But them again a 67 series isn't a high profile vehicle . Most everybody that you talk to that give negative feedback have never been down here . It is very dirty with litter, lots of poverty but we have had a great time and will come back again. And BAJA really isn't Mexico it's more of a dirty extension of California .

hahaha, well it was a surf prison. Point break with a reef break on the right of it and a freight train beach break on the right of THAT!!! I lived in a house w/ no electricity except for a small sailboat solar panel so I could turn on the radio. I would listen to the simpsons on 87.7 SD fox channel and would listen to the commercials and then I would SEE the commercials when I was north of the border and it would thrill me to finally figure em out. My friends thought I was nuts. After a year I went on the Warped Tour in 2003 and the RV I lived in was step up as it had electricity and refrigeration!!!

Very Cool... And, why do you now live in SC? Not too much adventure there.

yep, that was my hippie phase. when not surfing I made candles so I could see at night. Family is in SC but you'd be surprised, there's a lot of uninhabited barrier islands to camp on and explore for surf when we get a hurricane swell. and Puerto Rico is so damn close!

Totally agree. The more people that think it is dangerous the better.

I like it. Maybe we should start a separate section for D-90 Black Ops.

Yeah, these are probably the same folks that think Customs is crushing Pumas.

So can you own guns in Mexico? Oh right you can't. I'll pass, don't like to be in a foreign country without any means to protect myself.

I guess that rules out a European vacation.

Do they remove your limbs at customs or something? I've protected myself far more times with my hands than with guns.

Hey Jackie.. You've obviously done more listening to horror stories than actually going there.. As someone else said.. It's nothing like that..

I'm just a middle aged pussy who's lost his sense of adventure

You're right, I've never been so I was talking out of my arse.

Yet with all kidding aside, I still think this would require some planning and luck to pull off without a hitch or two. It would make for a great story. I hope someone on this board goes through the effort and shares the stories with us.

And Neil.. I would think with all your money and talent you wouldn't be so narrow minded as to limit yourself to just living in the USA.. Guns are pretty much illegal in just about all countries..

I have pics on my other computer and will send them later today to those who pm,ed me.. I really don't see any problems with bring a load of car parts back across the border.. I don't think the Mexican drug cartels are called the Baja drug cartel.. So much military and federal police presence that the so called drug cartel stuff is a myth.. Easy to avoid any likelihood of problems by not driving at night.. I have been down here for 2 months and driven just about everywhere in Mexico and Baja and had zero problems.. Now I am back in the USA I have to lock my doors etc..

As far as it not being stolen I have the vin and will be checking on it before any money changes hands if desired..since the chassis isn't worth bringing back in there really isn't much to check at borders etc.. Receipts from a Baja mechanic shop will be furnished upon pickup for documentation... I think my pretty good reputation tells you that I am not here to rip anyone off or sell stolen property.. Judging by the amount of pms I have received not everyone is as paranoid and conspiracy theory prone as others... Thank god for that..
