2.8 PS Vacuum Pump

Hi Folks,

I have a brand new, still in the sealed bag vacuum pump for the rear of the alternator on a 2.8 PS (TGV).

It came from Brazil, along with a number of other parts I had ordered, but this one was just not needed.

Attached are some close up photos. One of the mounting ears pushed through the side of the thin cardboard box, but there was no damage as it was all in a much larger box.

$125 plus shipping.

Thanks for your interest !

I'd chuck it in the spares box.... just in case!

I gave away a crank pulley for a Td5 a few months back... guess what I needed last week....

Not too familiar with the 2.8 IH.
Only worked on one of these years ago.
It is my understanding that this fits the back of the alternator and because the exhaust manifold and turbo are different on the 2.8 (when compared to the 300TDI).
On the 2.8 there must be ample clearance between this vacuum pump and the exhaust manifold with the stock 2.8 alternator mounted in the same location as the 300TDI.

Can anyone verify this?

Hi Robert,
Yes, it fits to the back of the alternator.
"Rayfi" (Derek) has posted photos of his 2.8TGV that is for sale : http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=43705
Perhaps that might help answer the question ?
