The 2.25 is not a candidate out of the box, but the 2.5 is because it has lower oil squirters and shares the block casting and crank with the 200TDI. The 200TDI ladder support will bolt to a 2.5 and the 200TDI oil pan will bolt to the ladder. The 300TDI head and IP will bolt onto the 2.5. Add some 200TDI rods and pistons, and 300TDI manifolds... well guess the cat is out of the bag.
None of this has made it into the real world yet, but am taking some more measurements and setting up for some machining this winter to explore further and if feasible build a running example.
