2.25 Diesel Feeler

I have been having problems with this engine for a while now so it has been parked for a couple of months. I finally took it to a mechanic and he discovered that the head gasket has blown between a couple of the cylinders. While in there he has found that some of the valve guides might need some work too. There are probably a number of things that could be done while in there...

I was wondering what this engine might be worth to someone out there who wants to put it in their Series truck? Would I be better off leaving it as is so that you can fix it up yourself? Or should I have it fixed and drive it around a while? I ultimately want to swap it with a 200tdi, so I don't want to drain the funds on fixing this engine unless I can get my money back by selling it.

Anyone interested in this? Here is a video of it running last fall.

Well, that engine probably has more sentimental value than anything. I used to suffer with one and they aren't anything to write home about. It's a slightly different animal than the Series diesel. Maybe someone who has to have an original diesel would want it. Otherwise the expense to get it back up to snuff would be unjustifiable. Put a new head gasket on, drive it until you have the bux for the turbo diesel.

I think I will do whatever needs to be done to get it back on the road and that's about all for now. My mechanic is doing the "hot spots" too while he is in there. It's frustrating to me that I don't know enough about engines in general to service this myself.

I know this didn't exactly start out as the most enticing item for sale, but it's worth a shot.

If anyone is interested in this engine let me know. For clarification, this is the five main bearing naturally aspirated diesel.
