These pics don't quite capture it, but every single panel on the driver's side is damaged. The rear quarter panel is peeled off like an anchovy tin lid, more or less. I priced out the repair. I priced out the resale value of the parts. Then I found a new Disco and figured out that it would be cheaper to part out the old one AND buy a new one than to repair the body damage.

Lousy picture of the rear quarter panel, you have to look closely and the angle is not the best:
As for the motor, it's in decent shape. I did the heads on it about 40K miles ago, valve job & machined surfaces. That has held up great. A little lifter tick, otherwise it runs strong. Minor oil seep from valve cover gaskets. I have changed the oil religiously every 3K miles (synthetic with high capacity filter) and changed the coolant every 24 months. Engine has never overheated in my 6 years of ownership (monitored with ScanGauge because I didn't want to do the heads again). Mileage is just shy of 170K. I don't have the means to remove the engine, so if anyone wants it they have one week to figure out how to extract it. I would sell the engine - sump to plenum - (minus ancillaries like AC compressor, PS pump, alternator, idler pulley) for $300.
Transmission is smooth and strong, fluid is clear. Transfer case has some slop but nothing out of the ordinary. This has been a west coast truck its whole life so no rust anywhere. I'd sell these heavy parts cheap but I am not really equipped to pull them.
Engine harness & ECU is a possibility, but having never worked on that part of the truck before I'm not familiar with what it takes to remove. I can consult ye olde RAVE if you really want it.
I think that covers all the questions. Thanks for the interest.
