15 x8 steel wheels in IL

Good morning all -- newbie here, and though I don't have a Rover (rather, I settled for an old Cherokee -- sigh...), I ran across a set of steel Rover rims in excellent shape locally and thought someone here might be interested. These were at a rural garage sale, of all places, and I had hoped they'd fit my Jeep. As soon as I saw them, though, I realized they were far too big of a bolt pattern.

Anyway, the old fellow selling them said they were his grandson's, who drove a Land Rover. (I will need to haul out my caliper to get an exact bolt pattern measurement, but will do so and follow-up here if there's any interest). They appear to be takeoffs, or perhaps brand new and never even used. The are this style wheel:

http://www.okoffroad.com/stuff-wheel-lr.htm

And made in the US, according to the sticker. He'd like $150 for the set of 5, which seemed reasonable given the condition. They are in east central IL, and I suppose I could ship them if someone were inclined to include a few $ for my trouble, but local pickup would be strongly preferred. I get to the St Louis area about once a month and could deliver if need be, and Chicago or Indy aren't far from me.

Anyone need a nice set of wheels? Hope these will help someone out!

Are they exactly like the ones in the web link? Can you find any numbers on them? I would hate to buy them to later find out they will not fit my Rover.

Thanks.

They LOOK exactly like those. I know that they're stamped 15 x 8, and I'd be happy to measure lug pattern. I'll try to measure offset, too. I'll also check for any other stampings in the rims, and see if I can glean any further info from the labels (which were pretty vague).

Sorry for the delay; had to run out of town today. I just had a closer look at the rims. They are stamped as follows:

MADE IN USA 15 X 8 WIDE JJ DOT CT&W 9 13 2007

The "&" symbol is difficult to read -- it may not be "&" at all, but I can't make it out if that's the case. Sorry!

"6-01" is also stamped on the seating face (behind the lug holes). I measure the backspacing at just over 4" (by laying the rim flat on the pavement and sticking a tape measure through 'til it hits the ground, then measuring up to the seating surface). I also measure the bolt pattern to be roucghly 5 x 6.5" (by using the following technique to measure 5-bolt wheels: http://www.mrt-wheels.com/boltpattern.html)

Hope this helps!

Thanks, everyone, for the interest, but please note that these are NOT MINE. I am helping an elderly fellow get them sold. As such, I can't bargain on price (not yet, anyway) and I am not willing to deliver since I stand to LOSE time and fuel costs to do so. If I can work a meeting into an existing trip, I'm happy to do so -- hence the mention of the St Louis area, which I hit once a month or so.

Thanks again!

Stocker has passed on these, but I do have them in my possession now and can send pics. All 5 for $150 plus shipping, or I can deliver to the St louis metro easy area the first weekend of February.

And if they were 5 x 4.5 they'd be on my Cherokee.

I know someone will be able to put them to use, so I picked them up. Hope it helps someone out!

Congrats! I sincerely appreciated the help you gave me with em, even though I did not buy em. If you ever run through Columbus, look me up and I'll buy ya a beer, or milk, or whatever you might drink.

Thanks! They went to a fellow Air Force member near St Louis, where I happened to be headed anyway. It worked out perfectly, and they ought to look great on his rig.

Chris-

Thanks again for being so great through the purchase even though I was out of town. Next time you are in town let me know and we'll have a beer at one of the local establishments. Like I said before I can't wait to get those rims on my rig as they were the same I had before they were stolen in '01. Even since then I've wanted to go back to the steelies like in my profile pic! Thanks again...

Regards,

Jay

My pleasure, Jay. Yes, steelies look great on any offroad rig. I found a set for my Cherokee, and can't wait 'til spring to clean them up and install.

Man, I hope these aren't your old stolen rims! In all seriousness, I think they are either take-offs or have never been mounted. A couple have shelf wear and appear to have been test-fitted (wear around the lug holes), but they really don't appear to have ever had tires or weights mounted. I think they'll work perfectly for you. Glad I could find them a home!
