Scuba tanks get a visual cert every year, and a hydrostatic test every 5.

Pendy, as usual, armchair quarterbacking and internet experts...... expected here.

I did not mean to quarterback on you, or pretend to be an internet expert ,, I am only an open water scuba certified guy and, at the end of the day.. if you don't hydro test your scuba tank every year , it is you underwater not me.

Been diving since 1990.

Right out of wikipedia.org:

Most countries require tanks to be checked on a regular basis, see gas cylinder. This usually consists of an internal visual inspection and a hydrostatic test. In the United States, a visual inspection is NOT required every year (This is an industrial standard that is not DOT required), and a hydrostatic every five years. In European Union countries a visual inspection is required every 2.5 years, and a hydrostatic every five years. In Norway a hydrostatic (including a visual inspection) is required 3 years after production date, then every 2 years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diving_cylinder

Just in case you want to brush up before going for your advanced open water cert......

Follow-up Post:

Oh, to put this discussion back on track (and dispell any other mis-information that may arise), compressed gas cylinders need hydrostatic testing every 5 years. This particular CO2 cylinder will need tested on or after August 2010. All fill stations do hydrostatic testing, and as Scott mentioned, it cost about $10.

I'll knock $15 off for internet experts and armchair quarterbacks.....

Good Golly- He is in Charlotte, ... you are in Raleigh. Meet halfway before I buy it and have Dale pick it up for me!
Make it go away ... it is taunting me.
