Should...just bolt in. But why do you want a 1.6 in a 300? 1.4 would fit nicely, that's what I run in mine. Not crapping on Shaynes' FS thread just sayin...

I have a 1.4 in my 200 tdi.. Sometimes people want a different transfer box when they install different tyres or gears in the diffs.. I can just never remember which way the whole gearing thing goes when you want better torque vs better top end speed... If you can't tach out your engine at terminal velocity (as fast as you want to go) then you are wasting gearing and can go lower gears.. If you tach out then you need higher gears because you are wasting engine revs.. That is of course if you are a highway driver.. It also changes your spacing between gear shifts one way or the other.. If you put oversize tyres on and still want to maintain a high highway speed I believe you can go to a lower ratio box.... Think of ratios like your 10 speed bicycle... In the low gears you had to turn your pedals (a.k.a engine or input shaft..also referred to as driver) twice as much to turn the rear wheel ( differential, output shaft..also referred to as the driven..)..think of it as a 2 to 1 ratio... In the higher gear you could turn your pedals once to turn the rear wheel once..that's a 1:1 ratio...in the lower gears you have better torque (easier to climb hills) but not a great top speed...go into the higher gears and you have reduced torque but higher top speed... It also depends on the torque curve and maximum engine rpm of the engine.. Generally speaking a gas engines tach higher than a diesel engine..but diesels have a better torque... I rode bicycles with a buddy who's legs could go much faster than mine (his engine tached higher at redline) than mine so in the same gearing he could beat me..but if I went to a higher gear I could beat him coz my engine had a better torque curve...I was stronger...sooooo to paraphrase ratios are like this...correct me if I am wrong guys... On a 1.66 ratio box it takes 1.66 turns of the input shaft to produce 1 turn of the output shaft.... On a 1.22 ratio it take 1.22 turns to produce the same result...meaning the 1.66 is a lower ratio and will give to better torque but lower top end...or alternatively make your engine turn faster to produce the same top speed...it seems like a very small difference 1.66 turns to 1.22 but when your engine is doing 3000 rpm it makes a difference.. Low gears give you low top speed and higher gives you higher top speed...Now..aren't you glad you asked...????...

And yes I do have a 1.4 i could sell..I could drop the 1.4 out of my 2.5 non turbo diesel with lt77 trans I put into the series 2a and put the 1.6 in it..I don't fancy driving a series at 70 to 80 mph down the highway anyway so I could use a lower ratio..but due to the amount of work I would have to get a decent price for it... Hence the feeler bit in the ad...whats it worth guys...

so right now I am running 1:4 transfer and 4:11 diffs with 33's. If I go to 35's should I go with lower diffs or will the 1:6 tranfer work better?
