In my opinion the transfer box is much easier and cheaper to change...unless of course your diffs are lockers and then we can trade..LOL..

Dana, remeber that the 1.6:1 transfer case will only effect your gearing in high range. Low range will still be the same in all the LT230s. If you are going to 35s and want to keep your end to end "gearing" roughly the same off road as well as on the highway, you may want to consider making the change in the diffs.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it is the 1.6:1 t-case. I'm told the 1.6:1 was used in the early 2.5 na diesel 110s. Not sure where else it was used.

Correct.. 1.6 was stock in early smaller non turbo diesel and gas engined vehicles.. If you were to go to bigger tyres I would suggest for road use to go to this transfer box.. Correct about it not changing low range gearing.. But low 1st is usually low enough already especially with e 4:1 gears.. The 1.6 will just make it better on the road.... If you can't pull 5th gear on the road this will aid you in doing that.. Ideally you should be able to max engine rpm at the same time you max your road speed... Otherwise your wasting revs or gears..if you find yourself wishing you had a 6th gear then you need to go to a higher ratio.. Ie.. From a 1.4to a 1.2
