WTS 1975 Shorland armored car. Pretty much a nicer version of a ferret

Hey Guys,

Family has come alone some ruff time and I need to sell the Shorland.

It's a 1971 Series IIA chassis that had its armored body added in 1975 by Shorts armaments. It's spent 10 years in the Northern Ireland with 8th battalion and 5 battalion UDR. Then she did a tour or two with BBC/CNN news.

She has 3/8 armor all around and will stop a 7.62x51 machine gun rnd from under 10m.....you can see strikes from a belt fed on her side from a encounter with one. It also has a glass ceramic armor on the floors for small piper bomb and grenades.
She has 13kish miles on her 2.6 engine. Runs and shifting amazing and has always been very well looked after. She will cruise at 55 and gets about 10mpg. This is one of 1000 MKIII's ever built and 1 of 2 of the only ones in the US.

Index it has 2 series front seats, radioman jump seat, and a custom made turret gunners seat. Interior dome light with red and white light. Turret also comes with replica .30 cal machine gun and viewing periscope. There is an extractor fan for those hot days but with the hatches open she cools down pretty quick. Also fitted with 12K winch and new 9x16 tires.

Chassis and bulkhead are in excellent condition as is the rest of the Rover mechanically.

Price is $25,000 for a quick sale. Last one is US went for $33000. He Shorland performs a lot better on and off road then a ferret carries more people , and it 100x easier to work one. If you want very rare Shorland this is the one for you.

Really don't want to sell it but family comes first.

Please call 802-324-3370 for more info.

Unless he has the coolest wife ever that appreciated the safe vehicle he just purchased for their child.

Also, the "push present" is such bullshit!

That is one really nice rig!

Look at Ferret prices. Best link is the little field auction some one posted. Last Shorland I saw in US sold privetly for $32k 3 years ago. Haven't seen a single one come up for sale since when I bought this one in UK nearly 2 years ago. I looked for 3 1/2 years to find mine.

------ Follow up post added July 11th, 2014 12:40 PM ------

How do you make a bring a trailer listing? Never used it before?

more pics from when we bought it and having the turret reinstalled. It was removed in the 90's after a trip to Bosnia with BBC news. I guess the turret drew alot of fire and it was removed. We then found one on UK army rifle ranges and got it reinstalled.

Really need it gone quick. If any one shares a lead that pans out and buys it I'll send them a case or couple growlers of VT's finest beer!
