Whats this D90 worth?

About to purchase a D-90 privately and have verbally committed. (buying through a friend of a friend) Want to double check that I am not over paying. I do not have the time to wait for a great bargain but dont want to overpay. The details are below please tell me what is a reasonable price.

1997 AA Yellow Defender 90
65,000 Miles
3 Owners
Spotless Carfax Report, double checked myself
Has had all the services done through a LR Dealership, including a recent 60k mile service.
I have seen and looked over the car thoroughly, there is not a spot of rust anywere to be found.
Underneath is spotless.
Took it to my local Land Rover dealership and had a buddy give it a once over. He told me its one of the, if not the best D-90 he has seen. He was actually surprised at the condition.

Basically it is in mint condition. No leaks either.
Tires have roughly 1000miles on them. No modifications besides upgraded sound system. (receiver, speakers, 5 or 6 disk changer) Drives beautifully, 75mph on highway drives straight and tight. Soft top is very clean as well, looks nearly brand new.

I think that covers it. Let me know your thoughts on what is a decent price for this truck.

Thanks!

Maybe last year, but in today's market I think $34-$36k max.

What ever you paid you will find someone that will tell you it was too much... You will end up paying it one way or another... Buy the truck, enjoy the truck and it will be worth it. Then after 6 months, start making your wish list for mods, from lights to dual batteries to off-road gear.

Congrats on finally joining the club,

Scott

$35K +/- $5K.........given todays economy.....2 years ago $10K for......2 years from now ???

Bottom line is there are no more D90's and they are increasing in mileage....regardless if you can import one that is 25 years old or if a "new" one will come out it won't be the same as the NAS you will have.

If the car is everything you want and there are no others and it is priced to the point you are afraid someone else will take it then the price you paid is CORRECT

I have to agree- given the color/milage/condition, a year ago, low to mid $30's. Today, mid to upper $20's. However, realize if it is too far below market, Copley would flip it for a profit, thus making the market price ( d/t the retail sale) higher, if that makes any sense. Another angle- always buy as much truck as you can afford, as it will cost much more to buy a lesser truck and bring it up to par. Bottom line, if it is what you are looking for, buy it, and enjoy it- it will hold it's value better than most anything else car wise. Especially at 65k miles- you get the next 30k miles almost free value wise. Enjoy- sounds like a nice truck, congrats!!

Looks like you have opened a can of worms here I say if you felt like it was worth the amount you mde a verbal commitment at, then thats what it's worth to you, and it doesn't matter what anyone else says. Unless you plan on flipping it, the point is moot anyway

Welcome! You won't be sorry you bought it.

Four months ago, I looked at a Yellow with D-90 here in Nashville that had less than 50K miles on it. I was looking at it for a person on the West Coast. He ended up buying that truck for somewhere in the neighborhood of low 40's. Four months ago was not that long ago in the scheme of things.
He could not have been happier with the truck when it arrived. I think it is all about what you are looking for.

Purchase, enjoy and don't look back.

Just my two pennies!

Thanks
Dendy

Absolutely.. thats the one thing I learned about Rovers.. you always pay more than you 'could'... you'll always find better deals after you buy it... buy it, don't look back and don't read the classifieds or ebay.

Just don't spend like 60k on it or so... but +/- a few k isn't horrible.

I paid 37k, According to the posts I feel good about it. Could I have saved a 2-4k probably so, but like one of the posts said, I will enjoy it and I have been waiting for the right vehicle for a few months now. Also the seller and people involved seem very trust worthy as does the documentation and mechanic feedback. Thanks for all the input!

I will post pics upon picking it up this saturday if any one is interested.

Follow-up Post:

by the way, throughout the recent months i have asked some questions and even spoke to some members who gave great advice. This is a great forum with good people and I am looking foward for future advice on what mods to make and general D90 stuff. Thanks again for everyones help.
