What's it worth?

Hello all, new to the board from No Cal. I am checking out this Defender and curious what everyone thinks would be a fair offer. Seems like its priced a bit high and its been out there for a few weeks. Completely stock, CA car so no rust, 206,000 miles. Thanks!

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/3492700733.html

Price for this vehicle is way below what others want due to high miles, but engine is very strong, and drive train is otherwise new or newer. This was a highway vehicle for most of its history, has near perfect body and paint with a couple of small dents and scratches. Never involved in any accidents that caused any damage to the vehicle.
This is a completely stock Defender, no add ons or modifications. I have had this car from the time it had 7,000 miles on it, and I hate to see it go.
New transmission and clutch at 180,000/ New transfer case at 72,000 or so.
Over $4000 spent to get this vehicle ready for sale: New front end, so all bearings, hubs, front brakes, etc. are new. Steering assembly was rebuilt. New master cylinder. So, it stops and turns like new. Engine Oil and differential's lubrication renewed.
New floor mats in front and cargo mat in rear (both Land Rover factory parts) newly installed.. Front passenger Interior is in excellent condition, rear area could use some touch up. Has new (expensive) convertible soft top, new windshield and new right mirror newly purchased or installed. If you hang on to this car, it should double its value in 10 years or so.

Welcome!

That's not a bad asking price.

You should go see it with someone that knows D90.

seems ok if its RUST FREE and has a forward facing seat and a Badger Top.

It will not double in value in 10 years.

If it was me I would like to be at $18,000

if he wants to guarantee it'll double in value in 10 years for you, he should only sell it to you for $8k.

Thanks for the responses. I checked it out today and there are a few small rust areas, needs new rear seat, tons of cosmetic/small issues that are too numerous to list. Seems decent but will need some attention. I am not an expert but took some photos, anything in these that jump out as red flags? And I have no clue what that plate is in the rear box! Thanks!

that plate is probably just a fuel pump access hole put in by someone who was tired of paying $500-1k for the fuel tank to be dropped to replace the pump.
