Washington DC Defender

Past a defender today, in my Defender. Never happens anymore. Sad thing is this Defender was up on a flat-bed traveling north from the DC beltway to Baltimore.......The tow truck drive seemed surprised to see the same model next to him on the road.

Anyone's here? It was a yellow soft top 1994 model with a roof rack.

That truck should arrive at my driveway up here in Maine around 1:00 on Friday. I bought it from Tommy Moore who was about as exceptional a seller as could be expected. Looking forward to tinkering with this truck this winter although I need to make some deposits in the marriage account as I am overdrawn.

I thought that truck looked familiar, used to be mine. Before Tommy. Although it looks like he added a full rack.

Always liked that color since I followed you around at my first Romp. This one has a gazillion miles on it and I think I'll keep it close to home for awhile.

No, but it's got a ton of miles on it and I'm expecting to replace the engine sometime soon. A diesel would be nice but I'm not looking to sink a whole lot of money into the truck right now.

My experience with the rover motors is that if they have oil in them and don't overheat, you can run them for a very long time. Sure the cam will wear a bit and you will lose some power but they keep running.

Hey Gary,

Cool that I saw your truck. If it makes you feel any better - I followed it for about 20 miles - kind of to cover another defenders back The guy driving the truck held a steady rate of about 65 mph, used his signals, and did nothing crazy.........enjoy the truck.

You mean while it was on the trailer. Who knows what he did when he loaded/unloaded it.

I know a couple guys that were towing a car down to florida for the Grassroots Motorsports challenge when they saw an identical car passing them on the shoulder. Just about the time that the car left the shoulder and plowed into a tree, they realized it was their car. The idiots had used just one strap on the front and one on the rear.

Glad to see yours is being transported in much better fashion. Have fun with the new purchase.
