Vehicles for Trade

I am looking for some honest feedback.
I own a 1999 Discovery SD and a 1999 Range Rover 4.6 HSE.
I would like to trade them for a Defender 90 or possible Defender hybrid.

Where would you list a trade offer such as this? I was thinking craigslist. I have used eBay extensively, but find it to be a)overpriced on the sales side and b) obviously not the best place for trades as it is an auction site.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

My thoughts are that it is going to take some significant amount cash along with either and/or both of those trucks to get someone to trade their D-90.

probably need some more particulars on your "trades". miles, mods, service records.........going to need some cash plus these to get into a 90. pics would really help as well. good luck with your d90 search.

It all depends on what you are looking for. If you wanted an imported 84/85 90, you could probably get pretty close plus a little cash. But if you wanted an NAS truck, they would be considerably more.

Without seeing and knowing more about your trucks specifically, the average values are not that much.

A nice 99 Disco is probably around $5K and a 99 4.6 is around $7K.

Your best bet is to sell Disco and Range Rover and import a 84 or 85 D90... You can find some good deals...as well a lemons. So do your research. That's the best way to get a Defender with out plunking down some serious cash.

Didn't a hybrid Defender ( 74 Series turned into a D90 ) sold for like 10k?

Unless his Disco & P38 are totally fubar, he can get one of those...

That was a custom order, extremely spartan truck- no dash, heater, wipers, etc made from spare parts with military seats, etc.- barely street legal, not to be replicated....

You are not going to piss anyone off... This is not Dickheadweb. Landrover exchange is a perfect place for him to advertise his RR and Disco for sale or trade. The more places he advertises, the more likely that he could connect with a potential trade or sale.

damn... I think horsey knows every Defender for sale in the country... when I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on buying a 110 I'm not going to look for one at all, I'm just going to send horsey a bag of oats and ask him where to go...

do you know ROWs as well or just the NAS trucks

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I should have posted that I assumed cash would be involved for a NAS vehicle, but there are some good thoughts on here. I am going to see what is out there and with luck consolidate my land rover life into one defender.

------ Follow up post added March 23rd, 2010 02:01 PM ------

i guess i could toss in my 40's ford fire truck too.

That's okay... it's always good to have a knowledgeable broker that's not too invested...
