Value of 1991 Ex-MOD 90

I have got a line on a 1991 n/a diesel ex-MOD 90 that has 63K miles on it. It has zero mods. The body and chassis are clean. It is here in North America. The owner is asking 19K. This seems high to me. Does anyone know of anything similar bought/sold recently. Looking for an outside opinion, any insight would help. Thanks.

Way too high, unless questionable legality has a premium. With a state title, I couldn't see paying more than 7-9k for an n/a ex-MOD. I can't point to any recent sales though...

Why would a 1991 have a n/a diesel, I could see no reason to retrofit that engine

ex-MOD trucks had the 2.5n/a until the wolf came out with the 300tdi. They (to my knowledge) never got the 200tdi or the 2.5 td.

Correct too, the MoD never used (in full military spec) the 200Tdi or the 2.5TD. the wolf XD has the 300Tdi (and some later WMIK variants have the 2.8Tdi)

the Td5 couldn't be supressed enough for radio applications, so that wasn't used in full mil spec, but the new 2.4 PUMA TDCi has been rectified to allow radios to work OK... whether the MoD will buy any new ones is anybodys guess though.

The military do (or did) use all the engines in their "white fleet", that's general run arounds not painted olive drab.

Thanks for the input, the car is titled and completely legal, and apparently priced at a 10k premium! Thanks again for the info.

Up here in Canada, you'd be lucky to see $5000.

How can it be 'completely legal'? I thought it had to be 25 yrs. old

Just as a comparison, I just sold an 84 110 Station wagon with a galvy chassis and defender 200tdi for 15k... And it was in the US and in amazing shape with new doors and no rust on the bulkhead.

Another Comparison, I sold a 1984 converted 300tdi Defender to a client for $30,000 in very nice condtition,
perhaps you could have got more.

My 1991 n/a diesel ex-MOD 110 had 44 K on the clock when I got it and I paid about half what they are asking for that 90. Think it is just a wee bit over priced.

Probably could have, but the buyer had 15k to spend and had been looking for a couple years for a nice 110 with a tdi. He is a long time rover owner and I had a truck that he was looking for...

Chuck your truck was very nice. wish I could have made a move for it, but I think you got about what the market will bear right now. RHD, No a/c that seems to hurt imported trucks. I think $30k for a 1984 with a 300 tdi is very lucky. I imagine that was a built to order vehicle otherwise $30k is way above the market.

Why thank you. It was a solid truck and I thought it would probably have sold for 17-19k if I wanted to wait but the guy that bought it is really excited and had to have it. I have thought about converting them to LHD but have not commited to the idea quite yet.

It was quite updated: 24 spline axles, alloys, metalic paint, updated XS interior, panels and doors from a 1995 donor truck, snorkle, split charge system, heated seats, waxoiled chassis.

Follow-up Post:

not sold to order, but we are geared up now to make one 110 d/cab and one CSW every month, they can be rhd or lhd.
