Taking Offers..88 D90

OK I really need to sell this truck! I'm no longer in the US so it is just sitting. I will entertain any resonable offers..keep in mind the truck has 12k in it. It's located in Denver.

The truck is a 88 titled in Texas..not sure how the previous owner did it but he did. He was a older English guy who brought it in as a farm truck. Anyway in two years the 25yr rule will kick in and it won't really matter.

Details:
Paint - new but not the best spray job...looks nice but looking close you can find some small drips

Body - good, doors are newer and have no rust, inside no rust on floor boards etc..and the entire inside has been Rhino lined. Basic surface rust but very little on frame, rear crossmember is shot but I have a new replacement that comes with the truck(not installed) the fender tops are a little wavey.

Interior - seats need to be recovered..I may have this done before sale, dash etc..great shape no issues

Engine - 2.5td...not so good, runs and drives great but has blow-by which collects in air cleaner and runs out. 88,000 original mls
I also have a 2.5 NA motor that I was going to swap but I will not have the time..the NA comes with the vehicle as well. Mileage unknown

Overall the truck is in really good condition, the motor needs some attention but other than that everything is good. Has new clutch, brakes are good 2" lift tires are ok...spare tire is dead.

This could make a good started truck for a project or someone looking to get into a Defender with out spending a ton of cash.

Year is '88, truck is an LR 90 -- it's a coiler.

Are you sure it's engine blow-by from the PCV system or could it be turbo seal issues?

Can you email me some underside shots, frame pics etc?

Thanks so much,
Doug

did this sell to a guy in NJ?

http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/cto/2504937726.html

1988 Land Rover Defender Diesel D90 - $13999 (Red Bank, NJ)

Selling this awesome 1988 Right Hand Drive Land Rover Defender D90. One of a kind and very rare!

Truck is in very good condiition. Starts right up and runs great!

Brand new battery clutch and brakes

Exterior:
New paint job. Not a top of the line but it looks good. I would say a 7.5 out of 10
Body - No rust (its aluminum!) some minor dings here and there but all in all rather straight
Frame - has minor surface rust but nothing bad. Truck was from Texas and much better than any northeast truck you will find. The rear cross member is rusted out pretty bad this is a typical for all land rover defenders. I have a replacement I just haven't swapped out yet. It would come with the truck we could negotiate me putting it on for you

Engine - 2.5LTurbo Deisel. This is an 88 so it doesn't have the problems the earlier 80's TD had (revised block design). Starts right up and runs great. Rest of the drivetrain is solid as can be.

Interior - The dash is in good condition, seats are a bit torn up and could use a re-upholstering or just a set of seat covers. Indicator lights all work and even has a working radio. Rear is rhino lined pretty neatly. I have a jumper seat if you want to put it on.

Tires are rathe new, i'd say 90%.

All in all its a very solid truck, could been driven as is for years to come, or would make a great project for a full resto if thats what suits you. call 732-874-4134 if you'd like to come take a look.

------ Follow up post added July 26th, 2011 01:19 PM ------

Doesn't look like the current owner has even switched out your plates yet!

I did sell it to him....very interesting since he only paid $9,500 and is trying to get back $500 since he had to buy a new battery and change a light bulb.

Looks like the new owner joined yesterday. "bossman429" is his name. Surprised he hasn't tried reselling it on here.
