Wow, I am humbled by this. I did not know that it was an ICON, I was simply

convinced that it was a fine ROVER! I made an unhesitant "run" at it and the

deal came together. I must admit, as cool as DEFENDERS look, I do think the

Series III's look better, [jmo] and the Series II's, with the headlights on the

"breakfast' look even better still.

It appears to be in the very center of the state of Virginia, right?

JORGE, RANDY, do you have plans to participate?

Hey Jack. I have made it to MAR the past 3 years and should be going again. Jorge has never made it yet... Myself and Chris Vitale from the board usually head down together. He also lives in northern NJ near Morris Town

Randy,

I am so psyched UP! My contract with the trucking firm is all tight, and the ROVER is to be moving my way either today or tomorrow!

Unhappy

A little "bump in the road" The trucking company reported to me today

that they can't pick up my ROVER and start to come across to New Jersey

with it till at least SEPT 04. It was scheduled to start it's trek today at the

latest. Truthfully I am NOT surprised. I figured right off the bat that it would

take three weeks or so to reach me. Now, if next week rolls around and they

tell me there will be another seven day delay, I'll be looking for a buddy to

fly to California with me and split the driving back to north western New Jersey.

Pay Timm Cooper to haul it out to you. Maybe he can find some junk to haul home to make it worth his while.

You might get a more willing volunteer if you offered to fly him out and pay for all the gas/room/board. Seems fair for unpaid volunteer work to me.

That's what I did when I picked up my CrewCab from Paso Robles.

EDIT: Pendy has the best idea. If you gave Timm a road-map with a dot-to-dot line connecting all of the Jack-in-the-Box restaraunts between his place and yours, he might actually do it for nothing.

Timm had told me that he would have offered to drive it across, but right now he has "many irons in the fire".

Hey Jack,
No credit is given or needed. She does terrific work and I want you to get the same.
I shipped a defender from Cal. a couple of years ago to me.
She stays on top of the delivery as do the people shipping the vehicle.

All this talk of this truck, I just want you to get it already. She is very fair and will do you right.

Can it be driven across the country starting this Friday through Monday? Pay flight/room/food/gas and I'll drive it for ya.

Maybe somebody else would want to drive too, and we can drive it straight through.
