Series 3 Lightweight...$9,500

I'm listing this truck for a good friend that has it on consignment at Land Rover Nashville...This is a really nice Lightweight...the following is a desription from the owner.....

Land Rover Series III Lightweight 24v FFR RHD 2.25 petrol, released by the military in 1993. It has 62,108 original miles. It is a very drivable vehicle. The dual batteries were recently replaced and the engine turns over with little effort and runs very well. The original Zenith carb has been replaced with a Weber. There are no transmission or transfer case issues that I am aware of. I recently serviced the brakes with new parts where needed and renewed the fluid. It is fitted with a Smiths heater and it functions very well. New door tops & door bottoms on both sides and both fitted with anti-burst latches. It has Land Rover 90 seats and not the original two-piece seats. It is fitted with four BFG Mud-Terrain tires in the 235-86/16 size. The FFR canvas top is in ok shape with the exception of the rear plastic window is cracked unfortunately. The chassis is very solid with no rot. The suspension is in good condition and the shocks were recently replaced. It is still fitted with dual fuel tanks but the passenger side tank and transfer switch are non-functioning. Most of the gauges work and all exterior lights are operable. The original military convoy lighting switch works and functions as it should but the IR switch has been disabled. This vehicle is an excellent example of Land Roverís military heritage.

Thank you Dale. Yes, the 101 is now owned by a gentleman in Ontario, I guess I should update my profile haha.

I've been kicking myself ever since I sold my last Lightweight, so its great to be back into one.

Sounds like you both win- the 101 was great, and Kelly says this lightweight is as well. Good luck with it- can't wait to see it. I think CROC has a w/e in Dec at Uwharrie- you bringing the LW?

It depends...since I teach, the first two weeks of December are the end of the semester and I have a lot to grade and turn in. I will try to make it if I can. If not, then I will definitely be at Safari this year.

I honestly don't see why more people aren't into Lightweights. They are inexpensive, reliable, heavier duty than civilian models, frames and bodies rust free, meticulously maintained when in service, low mileage and much more stylish. Once with my last Lightweight, I parked across from NC State a few spaces down from a Lamborghini Gallardo. Guess which vehicle had a crowd of people around it when I returned? I don't think there's any vehicle out there that gives you more Rover enjoyment for so little money.

I hope to pick up a lightweight at some point in the future, but have too many car payments right now, so it will be a while until I can afford one.
