I remember that post. He brought back three truck loads of stuff that was basically worthless (other than the trop tops). Axles, dented body panels etc.

Ron, You cant see it in the pics but there was actually a lot of good stuff. Thats where I got my NOS fenders for my series one. There were three pairs in there! Also got a 49 breakfast panel to hang on the shop, NOS, 101 CVs, NOS SII fenders, a pile of kodiak heaters a few good firewalls and so on. Relk got a sweet 109 tub, some NOS fenders, NOS doors, basically the entire body for his 109 project. Mike got his crewcab parts there. Trust me, theres some good stuff. Most of which he wont let go of. Theres an 80 inch body in there thats just sweetness. totally straight.

Mike, your memory is fading. Mark lives 3 hours south west of eugene in the woods. Cave Junction. Hence the nickname: Caveman Mark.

Yes, my memory is fading...except for that sweet military 80-inch. If I could have one of his, that'd be the one.

To stay on topic, I'd love to get a series I some day just to use to tool around the island.

I guess I'll just have to keep wasting money on these defenders until I can afford a series truck...

If you just forgo some of those dealer oil changes and change it yourself, you will have enough in no time.

PS: As a bonus, a good running series one motor can return mileage comparable to your tdi.

Mark

Sorry for the hijack, which I guess is a hijack of a hijack.

The best 1.6L gas Ive had was getting 24 arond town and just below 30 at more constant speeds. Which is better than severeral tdi owners I know. A good 2.25 diesel will return mid to high 30s consistently.

I don't doubt it, there's no replacement for displacement when burning fuel is your goal. I've just got too long a logistics trail right now with cars, they're in 3 states and 2 countries. After I'm done with the 110 I'll start looking at projects again. I'm always watching Alfa Montreals too.

That'sit.....I'm putting a 1.6 in the Swampslut

on topic; sweet little p/u.

I'd be all over it if I could sell some of my hoarded junk in time. Make a nice left coast rig to park in Portland.
I would think at the asking price it would not be around for long though.

new expansion complete. Not only are we the only Rover shop in Eliot Maine...now we're also the biggest.
