Selling NAS110 question

I'm going to advertise my NAS 110 for sale in May. My question is: Should I have the rollcage painted black or leave it stock? The guy who did some paint touchup for me offered to do it in trade for some bike stuff I don't need anymore. I really like the look of an ECR 110. I already have the black rocksliders on it. Will it make any difference when I go to sell it?

I personally think the black cage looks fantastic on the 110s. BUT, it may depend on the originality of the vehicle. Some may want it completely stock. If it's in rough shape, then I say go for it!!!
Cheers,

You sold 24 already right? Unless the one you are selling is especially original, as in the kind of condition that might appeal to a collector, then don't worry about it one way or another. If I was buying it, I'd rather have no rust on the cage than a color preference.

I think he still has 24. I would go black Fred. It looks way better and 24 is not very stock any way. Funny, I miss that truck, it was a blast to drive.

I asked the same question when I redid mine and the consensus seemed to be that most people prefer the black. Obviously as a collector car it is more appealing in white, but I went with black b/c I plan to sell mine and I figured I would do what the vast majority seem to like. Personally, I hated the black the first time I saw a picture of it, but now I love it!

I personally prefer black but a collector or prospective purchaser may not agree.

Maybe you can let the buyer decide if the offer still stands by the time you sell it?

Most if not all of the aftermarket cages I have seen are black. I would keep it white to help let people know it is a NAS truck. But I do like the idea of letting the buyer decide.

We do black cages these days because the white ones show rust quickly and they show every spec of rust. The black cages look better for longer. Also, with new powder coat it can be hard to get the 2 whites to match, with black there are no matching issues. So there are some other considerations other than just looks.

Michael:
By chance; did you get that truck (#24) from the Pac Northwest?

I ran across a couple of photos I took 5 years or so ago of a 110 for sale near Univ of Washington; and on the back I'd written it was #24...

No, it came from the SF bay area, unless he bought it from someone up there. I think the PO before me had it for a long time though(6 years?) Or he was up there wheeling it. I know he went to a lot of places with his Rovers.

I'd leave it white, we know these trucks better than others so we prefer practicality whereas the $55,000 n up check signer collecter likes things the way things came from the factory.

Really? All the ones that our customers are doing with us all want black cages, and those are over $100K trucks.

Fred, there is a 110 on ebay right now that has a black cage. Some good pics to look at to help make up your mind. After seeing them I think I now like the white.

I think I will let the new owner decide the color given the responses. I honestly am torn between the two. Looks more masculine with the black cage. White is the way it left England. Love the potential buyers who say "nice looking 110, what year is it?"!!
