Question: Reputable Dealer/Rebuilder

I have been lurking around the forum for quite some time learning about the Defenders. I have been searching the forums, and could'nt find a lot of info about Reputable Dealer or Rebuilder for 110's. I have read all kinds of posts about people to stay away from. Not a lot pointing me towards people the board has had good dealing with. I am looking for a 110 that could be a daily driver, nice paint, 200 or 300 engine, disc breaks. The newer the dash and seats the better. I don't mind importing one. Just someone I can trust, without breaking the bank and my wife making me move out. Thanks in advance

If you're looking to import one then have it built or restored or whatever, start with this thread of reputable builders then keep searching:

I would like to know more about the place restoring a truck for rn right now. Actually I don't know who owns it but rn has pics of it in their catalog.

Congleton Racing & Restoration. I looked at their FB page and couldn't find anything about a D90 project. That was a week ago, haven't looked since.

If you're looking for a reputable dealer that brought the trucks in already, gb4x4.com has a few in stock and most prices are not too crazy. The owner is a member here by the name draaron. He's also been around the LR scene for quite some time. I almost bought one from him before but I found one with the exact specs I was looking for from another source.

You might also call safari heritage parts. They are building a 300TDI for a guy and building my faux puma 90 which will hopefully be ready by February 15. I have a buddy sending down a TD5 110 RHD station wagon they will be sorting out and helping sell it.

There use to be a thread of the good the bad and the ugly, but it seems to have disappeared.

I have an active project with Dale Knepp - rover barn. Fair price and had a ton of insight...
He had the option I wanted: a real 94 NAS as the donor....I am sure he could do older too to meet the 25 year rule.

http://www.theroverbarn.com/

Yes, I am biased as he is who is doing my truck. But I did some checking and he had a very good reputation with people who are roverheads...

I saw an amazing project Trevor Griffiths did on a series....it was something in paint hours along that was well beyond my budget. I stated these two guys were people with whom I have worked and had good things happen. YMMV.

No what's the scoop on your 130? Their phenomenal to drive. I'm working on a bonatti gray 130 lhd, power windows heated seats ac etc on a galvy chassis. That td5 crew is a sweet driver.

It's a TD5 130. Great truck with power doors. I am adding a/c, power windows and put puma sets in it.

There was a thread that was very critical of a member here who sells trucks. The thread has been deleted. I assume it was done as a gift to that individual before the transition to the new management happened.
