Cool. I kept seeing it and thinking it looked like an awfully good deal. Now I guess you can stay on the forum!

Nice truck. BTW, if you end up re-registering it out of CA, I'd be interested in buying your '56' yellow license plates...

Thanks Garth. This truck is headed to Maine. I bought those plates off of ebay. You take a bit of a gamble when buying antique plates that they may still be active but the likely hood someone else will have the same number is slim. You can just take them to the DMV and if you have a vehicle of the same vintage they will swap out the plates you have now.

OK John, Thanks. I figured you had put some time and effort in them.

I've collected CA plates for many years, and a nice set of 56 yellow plates with a low first Alpha character (E) prefix like what you've got there doesn't grow on trees...

I have a neighbor with a new Range Rover with personalized old school black plates. It didn't make sense to me because he previously had the same personalized plates in the standard new cali colors. I talked to him yesterday and he told me he ordered a set of old black plates from this place http://www.licenseplates.tv/ with his personalized slogan. He took these replica plates and put on his reg stickers and put them on the car. Since they are exact copies and have his current info on them, they are technically not illegal. He didn't deface gov property and the police are able to tell it is his vehicle when they run them. He said most cops think they are awesome. I am thinking of doing the same
