Modified 1995 Defender 90

Description and History: For sale is a 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 Soft Top with various accessories. I bought this Defender locally 3 years ago from the second owner. This vehicle was partially modded by the previous owners and by myself for off-road use. I'm currently selling the Defender due to financial issues and change of hobbies. This defender has 96,500 miles on it and still runs strong. It is inspected and the Vin is saldv2285sa958624 .

Exterior: This vehicle originally came with a tan canvas top from the factory but I had that replaced. It currently has a black badger top and the original conniston green paint-job.

Black Badger 2 top with gutter kit purchased a year ago (included).
Black Bikini Top (Pictured and included).
4 Hella Rallye 1000 on the lightbar.
2 Landrover off-road lights on the bumper.
The front ARB bumper is wired for a CB antenna.
Custom rear tire carrier with break-light in center. Carries a tire, off-road jack, and 2 jerry cans.

Protection: I have taken this Land Rover off-road and have all major components fully protected.

Front ARB Bumper with warn M8000 winch.
Custom door-sill rock sliders.
Frame Sliders.
Front Steering Skid Plate.
Front and Rear Differential Skids.
Rear Bumper removed (for break-over angle) and replaced with a a reinforced pintle hitch.

Driveline: As the most recent owner I increased the size of the tires and therefore had to increase the strength of the driveline components. I had both differentials shipped to Great Basin Rovers for overhauls.

The front differential has 4.11 GBR ring & pinion gearing and an ARB air-locker.
The rear differential has 4.11 GBR ring & pinion gearing and an ARB air-locker.
The front axle has GBR upgraded CV joint and axle shafts.
The rear axle has GBR hardened axle shafts.
The transmission was replaced one year ago.

Suspension and Wheels/Tires: The previous owner had this defender outfitted with an Old Man Emu suspension and I had this replaced after 70,000 miles with a Rovertym suspension.

Rovertym 3 inch lift springs.
Bilstein 7100 series remote resevoir shocks.
Rovertym front shock towers and lower mounts.
Rear Rovertym shock mounts.
Rovertym spring retainers front and rear.
Rovertym rear links for increased pinion angle.
Rovertym front radius arms for increased pinion angle.
OME steering stabilizer.
Extended brake lines.
5 steel wheels in 15x8 with 5 super swamper radial tsl's in 36x12.5xR15. About 15,00 miles on them.

Engine: The engine is the original 3.8 liter V8. It has 96,556 miles on it and still runs strong.

It is inspected and is good until July 2009.
As long as I have been the owner I have gotten the oil and filters changed every 3,000 miles. The next oil change is scheduled for 99,000.
The exhaust is Borla and there is a cut-out that can be opened up for off-road use.
The engine is wired for 2 optima deep drive batteries. This is to help power all the electrical components and the winch. They should be replaced.
New braided steel oil-cooler hoses.

Interior:

Dynamat in the door panels and on the floor.
Interior carpet material was removed for easier washing.
Original rubber trunk mat included.
Rear seat included.
Tuffy interior console.
The head unit is currently broken.
The speakers are Polk momo high-end marine speakers that are waterproof.
The interior is wired for a CB.
Custom switches for off-road light and ARB lockers and compressor.
New Land Rover upholstery on the front seats.
The driver-side seat box has 2 optima deep drive batteries.
The passenger side seat box has an ARB compressor and radiator muff.
Stainless door studs for the removable windows.

Also Included:

Badger II top in black with gutter kit thats not pictured. I can get pictures and will put the top on before truck is sold.
The 5 original wheels with BF goodrich Mud Terrain KM's mounted on them. Only 20,000 miles on them.
High-Lift jack pictured on the tire carrier.
2 Jerry cans with mounting equipment for use on with tire carrier.
A bunch of stainless extra hardware.
Winch remote.
Car cover.

Condition: This is a vehicle that has been used off-road. It has dents and scrapes that come with this type of use. There is no major exterior damage to the vehicle. The chassis is in pretty good condition with no major rust pockets. In the mechanical aspect the vehicle is perfect except it could use new batteries. If anyone wants more pictures just let me know.

Shipping and Payment: This vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty. Certified check accepted. Contact me at bbuinewiczmd@comcast.net for more information, pictures, or with offers.

Good luck with the sale Jake. I'm interested in seeing what it goes for - usually the mods hurt, even though the value of the individual parts is high.

What's your new hobby?

I saw it ended at $17,100 without the reserve being met. What do you want for it? How about some new pics of the passenger side!

Great looking rig

I know the price is a little high but I'd rather start high instead of shooting too low. I'm currently in Virginia so it's taken me a while to get pictures. I uploaded some pictures to webshots. The link is http://community.webshots.com/user/jdb3760 . The latest ones are in the album called "winter 2008 D90". Some of the other albums show the body. If you guys need anymore pictures just let me know. My new/current hobby is backpacking. I am currently trying to fund/plan a 3 month backpacking trip.

Thanks
Jake

Jake,

nice pics. Where are you planning on backpacking? AP trail? If you want to go international, I recommend the Inca trail in Peru. The longest route is somewhere between 1-2 weeks(A lot more down there if your looking for something longer). Altitude is a killer.

Good luck with the sale and trip.

The entire area of Machu Pichu, Cusco and if you get lucky you might find the Hidden Inca City

Also if you choose to go east like the Puna de Atacama ( Bolivia ) or south to Argentina / Chile , plenty of great spots ( would be nicer on the D90 )

The price is $19k. I've also added more photos of the body and the chassis to my webshots.
Thanks

I came very close to buying this rig, but since I didn't need such a trail-dedicated truck, passed and went the stock route. Jake is definitely an honest seller and seems to be a real nice guy. After shopping for Defenders for the past 1/2 year, I think this truck is a steal at that price!! Best of luck, Jake.

rear tire carrier

Who made your rear tire carrier? That looks strange, but useful... any way to see more of it?

I do currently go to Washington & Lee hence the late responses to the forum. I've been loaded down with work. The rear tire carrier was custom made by a company that made them for a couple years but stopped. The name of the company is on the tip of my tongue and I'll try to think about it. The hinge on the tire carrier is greasable and it holds 2 jerry cans and a high-lift. The truck is still for sale for $19k. I'm gonna try and respond to this board but the best way to reach me is at buinewiczj@wlu.edu . Thanks for the interest.
