Smile Land Rover Discovery- Diesel

1995 Land Rover Discovery with Diesel conversion

300TDI and AUTOMATIC transmission

Literally too much to list, if I miss any details, please feel free to ask questions.

Features a complete diesel drivetrain and all proper parts from a 1997 Discovery with 60k. Pre-OBDII model year means no issues with title, registration, safety inspection, etc. Setup was imported from the UK and professionaly installed about 4 years ago. Unbelieveable torque, reliability, and fuel economy from this 2.5L turbocharged 4 cylinder, and excellent driveability on or off road. Upgraded turbocharger and intercooler from Allard in the UK. Axles front and rear were completely rebuilt and upgraded with ARB air lockers, Great Basin Rovers 4.14 gears, heavy duty axle shafts, and CV joints. Front and rear custom double cardan driveshafts by Tom Woods. Allied Beadlock wheels, 36in Super Swamper TSL SX tires, Rovertym front winch bumper, 9000lb Superwinch with Viking synthetic line, Rovertym rock sliders, Lucky8 spare tire carrier, Flexi fender flares, Vigg hood blackout, Mantec snorkel, Proline HD rear bumper, Equipe front and rear differential guards and heavy duty steering linkage, with Old Man Emu steering stabilizer.

Other suspension parts from Rovertym include adjustable panhard rod, radius arms, rear a-arm spacer, and extended stainless steel brake lines. X-Engineering X-flex rear suspension kit with custom Rovertym trailing arms, x-springs, and x-joints. On-board air provided by a Powertank 5lb CO2 tank in billet aluminum mount.

I gotta admit I always thought I'd never convince myself to get into another D1 ever again but this is one badass ride. Good luck on the sale man. Thumbs up

Nice rig, Joel.

Would you mind expounding on the "Upgraded turbocharger and intercooler from Allard in the UK" ? I have a 300TDi in my Discovery and find it a wee bit on the sluggish side of things.

"This system is as for the Phase 2 conversion, but includes in addition an uprated turbocharger and a boost control valve to allow maximum boost to be raised to 1.25 bar and to match the higher airflow of the improved intercooler system. The normal 16-row intercooler can be replaced by an even larger upto 24-row intercooler.
Power 110 bhp (standard) up to 143 bhp (Phase 3)
Torque 195 lb.ft (standard) up to 257 lb.ft"

I have it set to peak at 17 PSI (1.17 bar). I dont think a larger intercooler would fit on a disco without hacking it up, or making it impossible to have AC.
(KIT from 790.00)."

I will go ahead and point out the following... there is a Dynaliner section under the hood that I need to re-glue, the truck does have a Saudi spec grille and Discovery II headlight upgrade, All the A/C parts under the hood were removed when the turbo/intercooler work was done, I do still have all those parts and they are included with the truck, as is the left rear seat which is currently removed to make room for the ARB fridge freezer, the security grilles in the rear windows are from Safari Equip, the dash, door panels and console trim are from a late Discovery I with LE trim, the rearview mirror is from an '04 Discovery II and is autodimming, with compass and Homelink, the front turnsignals are custom wired to also work as park lamps, and the undercarriage still has mud/clay in places from the last wheeling trip. Only rust is surface rust on sliders, driveshafts, etc. there is no rust on the body.

Truck also comes with a LOT of spare parts- from fuel filters, belts, etc. to parts you can't find locally for a 300 TDI- such as spare turbo, oil cap, dipstick, thermostat, water pump and more.
