Owner has a few offers in front of him.

Decision in 24 hours unless there is any other interest.

This one is going to go and soon.

Being a dick right up front doesn't help either. Especially if you're a newb.

Forum requires price. Pictures sell. Absent either you're likely to get owned here.

Get with the program and all will be well. People here are amongst the most knowledgeable around. Treat them with respect.

That is all.

Calling Robin Craig a newb is sort of funny. I think he has been into land rovers for 20 plus years.

Angry

Frankly my head is spinning at the comments made so far in public on this forum by persons who have no clue about what they write.

I am seriously offended and waiting for some apologies.

I have been called a "dick" by Hans because I stated "no GI Joes or dreamers". These forums are just as well populated as the real world for tyre kickers and dreamers, there is no exclusion zone here. He has eloquently proved that by his post.

The circumstances of this post was that the owner of the vehicle had finally snapped and wanted to scrap the truck, quick sharp. He was to be home on leave and was going to carry through with the intent and get it gone from being a mill stone around his neck.

As a devotee of Land Rovers, for over 20 years (as noted by the poster in post #9) and especially of military Land Rovers I did not want to see this truck die and hence the reason for making sure the news of it being available being shouted from the roof tops far and wide. This was not the only place it was advertised.

As it is his truck I could not set a price.

As far as pictures go the truck is buried in dry storage and getting at it is nigh on impossible as it is hemmed in by motor homes.

Add to that fact is the issue that our computer has crashed and we have a loaner and we cant save to the hard drive and with humility I have to admit at my age some technology is beyond my skill set.

If anyone had truly been interested they would have made contact, but they did not. The lack of a picture or a price would not have prevented somebody who had a true interest in saving the truck.

"Absent either you're likely to get owned here".

I'm not quite sure of the suggestion this post makes but it sounds pretty close to something ugly.

"Get with the program and all will be well. People here are amongst the most knowledgeable around. Treat them with respect."

That one sticks in my throat, shame this poster doesn't treat me with some respect! Very funny.

With reference to the poster in post #9 yes I have been around for a while, member of OVLR from 1987.

Past OVLR president, past newsletter co editor, published writer on Land Rovers and other vehicles in LRO and Janes Defence to mention some names that might be recognised.

Being straight forward is what I am about. It always amuses me how people don't have their real name in plain sight, other forums I frequent require this as mandatory.

I am appalled that no moderator has stepped in and commented.

Sorry to have troubled you all with giving you the opportunity to save and own a worthwhile real Land Rover.

Yes the vehicle did sell, for stupid money.

Awaiting apologies from those owing them to me . . . .

Yours

Robin Craig

They only do that when you post negative comments towards a forum "regular".

I apologize for calling you a dick. I should have said your original post made you look like an elitist asshole. We are ALL dreamers regarding one thing or another. How many times have you found interest in something you thought you might not be able to afford but found yourself taking the plunge after an enlightening conversation? What... You're too high on your horse to talk to someone who regards a 101 as a dream car? Or maybe you're just too cool to speak with someone who can't afford it but would like to ask about it?

And then there's the GI Joe comment. I work with some amazing soldiers (Canadian too). They are all quite proud to be a "GI Joe." And so what if there is a civilian who is a military enthusiast. who the hell are you to judge?

You might not be new to the LR scene but you are new here. Try walking in to any other social environment with your condescending bullshit and let me know how that works out for you.

Dear Hans,

thank you for clarifying your position for all of us to see your true colours and post them in the public domain in perpetuity.

You are entitled, as I am, to your opinion.

Wow when did this place become dweb? Cut the guy some slack... So he wasnt clear on the forum rules and his post could of been done with a little more finesse but big deal.. He clearly has more LR experience than most but perhaps not as much time spent behind a keyboard.

Personally I think the way he is being treated is embarrassing and a poor representation of this community.

I think its safe to say if he posted it was a NAS 110 tucked away in a dry barn but sorry I dont have pics or a price he would of been met with open arms.

Gents,

It was not my intention to shine a poor light on our community.

The OP rubbed me the wrong way and confirmed my assumptions in his follow-up posts. While I meant what I said, the name-calling was out of line. I should have just ignored this thread.

For my part in the drama, I sincerely apologize.

~Hans

I think, in future, much gnashing of teeth could be avoided if we resist the urge to jump straight to name-calling and instead explain what the actual issues are with a post or thread. Robin, I believe you have every right to be put-out by some of the things written, but you might do well to acknowledge that some of the things you tacked on to your initial post came across as somewhat confrontational.
