Mike:

Are those SE seats in gray hard to come by? And are they genuine Rover? I like them...

Also, just for the listing here, what is the price?

Lastly - and its just a sidenote - but I'm pretty sure that's not a Mantec rear tire carrier.

Minor differences, but in connections points to the capping/rear cross as well as to the door. Unless it's an older version that I've never seen. Mine Mantec is still un-mounted in the box regardless, but I happen to have some detail pics as a comparison before I did my install.

Either way, still a super-clean looking truck...which is no surprise from Mike!

Definitely not a Mantec.

Where did you get the other pics? Couldn't tell anything in the first one.

Pulled from Mike's ebay ad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...CA:MOTORS:1123

The other pics came from a buddies car that has a Mantec, wanted to do an "up close and personal" before starting to drill things on my truck.

Logo per the below...also looks identical (all connection points) to the brand new Mantec I've got still in the box.

Julian, I like you, but I can only assume you've spent the bulk of today in a confined space with poor ventilation building model airplanes? It's a Mantec on my buddies rig, and I'd bet one or both of my testicles on the fact. And if I had three I'd bet that one as well.

.....and now back to Mikes for sale thread .

Mike:

Is it just the picture that makes these look gray when they are in fact black?

I wonder if Bonatti gray is named for the mountaineer Walter Bonatti? I don't know of anything that's gray that's a bonatti. I don't know what a bonatti could be if it isn't that guy. Did he wear gray clothes all the time? I guess maybe he had had gray hair unless he fell off a mountain and died before he turned gray. Maybe the Land Rover color is the same color as his hair. Is there a peak or mountain named for him, or a sandwich or a cocktail?
Wikipedia sez:
Walter Bonatti (Bergamo, 22 June 1930 Rome, 13 September 2011) was an Italian mountain climber. He is noted for a solo climb of a new route on the south-west pillar of the Aiguille du Dru in August 1955 and the first solo winter ascent of the Matterhorn north face in 1965.

If that's true he musta been one crazy f*cker. Looks like he didn't fall off any mountains. Guess Bonatti Gray is a better name than Crazy F*cker Gray.

I found a pic. He has white hair! I don't see anything about him that is the color of the truck in this thread.

There's an oil company in Italy called Bonatti. Maybe it's supposed to be an oily color? http://www.bonatti.it/

Bonatti grey likely was named after Walter Bonatti, but not to describe any certain characteristic of his appearance - it was probably to commemorate the colors of his conquests - mountains...in particular the south-west course he took up Petit Dru, up a particularly grey pillar of rock.
