That's terrible news, Hans. Was the truck by you in Islip? Did the losers take anything?

Truck was at my mechanic in Patchogue (Great mechanic by the way, Tomar Tires. Doesn't know Defenders that much, but they are honest and charge fair prices...normally I leave them my factory manual with the truck.)

They got the radio, ripped the cubby box in half in the process. But I had taken everything else valuable out of the truck before I dropped it off. Normally I would have a lot of tools, NAV unit, I-pod and all those goodies in there. So I lucked out...especially after I got to peek in one of the other cars. His entire dash will need to be replaced, it was totally wrecked.

Waiting to hear from the insurance company, I'd love to put in a tuffy box instead if they cover me enough to go that route. Would be cheaper than a new stock piece from LR probably too. The thing that makes me even angrier is that it means they can't work on the steering box at all until the adjuster arrives to look at it all. D'oh!

Good news;

Insurance company is taking good care of me when it comes to the cubby box.

Bad news;

Mechanic was hit again last night.... now I need new door cards for a pair of SW doors.

:::sigh:::

No, but apparently somebody is hitting all the shops in the area. They got Midas on 112 also.

I'm just glad my doors were unlocked. Most of the other cars in the lot had the windows smashed too.

Ok. Tuffy center console is ordered. Weighing my options on the door panels.

What a freaking pain the ass this has been.

When are you going to accept the fact that this is the Rover gods telling you not to sell?

When they add in 2 more doors and another 1500lbs of towing capacity.

Believe me, I'd rather keep it. But I need to be able to haul a family and a camper.

This saga is nearing a close, I hope.

Interior is finally put back together, brand new fancy pants door panels... new Tuffy center console... Meridian power steering box.... all new tie rod ends and track rod....

Just need to get a fresh set of brake pads in there, give it a good cleaning, and It will be ready to put back on the market.

And now I can declare this truck to be back on the market, ready to go and all ready to sell.
Finally.

Just an FYI, I also posted this on craigslist locally at a slightly higher price. (Hey, it's summer and the Hamptons crowd is around.... you never know) But existing D90 guys get the lower price.

Probably be looking to E-bay in a couple weeks if it's still here.
